Very hard gives you more XP for killing things than Very Easy does:

Very Easy = 25% of original XP
Easy = 50%
Normal = 100%
Hard = 125%
Very Hard = 150%

EDIT: BWHAHAHAHHA, it seems thats another thing they gimped from Fallout 3, and it doesn't work that way in New Vegas. So even though I played on very hard, it was all for nothing. Whoopy fucking doo...

"Fallout: New Vegas, however, does not reward XP increases based on the level of difficulty selected. This somewhat alleviates the stress encountered while playing the game simultaneously on Hardcore, as it is not necessary to play it on Very Hard. No additional trophy/achievement is awarded to those who play the game on Very Hard nor do you gain bonus XP."

This could have saved me some headaches when fighting 97 death claws at once...

Fallout 3 gave more XP based on the difficulty. Fallout NV does not however.

Funny thing is, I didn't even know about the XP difference (or lack there of). I simply play Hardcore cause I like the challenge...

Yeah, if you get more XP it makes the game easier which is kind of not the point of playing on Hard/Very hard.

So is there a specific time that it is best to kill Mr.House if you go that route?

I have taken out the Omertas, I have gotten the Boomers on my side by raising the plane, and I'm in the process of trying to become a member of the brotherhood of steel - who he wants me to kill. I decided to save and take him out at this point and now I've got the robot friend to take over house's computers. I did see some interesting options for taking out the brotherhood though that I might try later on.

If you killed House, when did you do it?

Also, any tips for how to take out the Van Graff family other than just go in there and raise hell?

Finally, anyone else downloaded the Sierra Madre add on? Just did - raises the level cap to 35 but I haven't started the mission yet.

I'm on my 2nd play through and I haven't killed House yet. On my first play through I think I killed him when I was on The House Always Wins IV.

There are sooo many options and different directions you can take this storyline. It's ridiculous. Right now I'm trying to do the Legions work. I want to join them. Having helped the NCR the first go round, this really changes things up when trying to help the Legion.

I hadn't heard anything about this add on you speak of. But I can't turn my XBOX on fast enough...

The add-on is called "Dead Money" and it didn't get the best reviews - I should have read them before getting it.

Are you finding that there is almost too much stuff to do? I'm at level 30 and hadn't even stumbled onto the west side area and the thorn before today.

Yeah, I tend to try too hard to accomplish everything. Which is difficult playing a game like this. But it's great if you plan on playing it through 2 or 3 times. I purposely skipped some quests during my first play through, just so I'd have them for round two...

Just took out all the Van Graff's by using a Stealth Boy and laying out C4 all over the place, moving into the back room by the bathrooms and detonating them, then moving in and cleaning up the survivors. Worked like a charm.

Hardcore is annoying with the weight of energy weapon ammo, fuck. I tried doing a explosives/guns character, man explosives are useless. I have the grenade machinegun fully upgraded which in theory should rape the shit out of everything, but it's range sucks and DT isn't that good so it just means enemies get close and then you blow your own limbs off. Annebelle is good but 3 kg per missle is retarded, and it's blast is so large that at any range you can hit somebody without steady will result in crippled limbs. When enough DLC comes out, I'll replay as unarmed/stealth.

OH FUCKING GAY FALLOUT

While doing "Bleed me dry" for the Thorn, EDE disappeared somewhere. No idea where, it doesn't shop up on my map anywhere, I've tried vault-22's elevator trick to no avail. Windows 7 without any IR drivers so no console. Fucking gay.

Yep, exact same thing happened to me. I was roaming around Thorn and the sewers, the next thing I know, ED-E is missing and I didn't see him again until it told me he returned to Primm...

How is ED-E compared to Rex as a companion?

I've found him to be way better. One reason is because he has energy weapons, instead of simply relying on melee (biting).

If you're not playing HC, use grandma nightkin and rex, and they'll always be targeted instead of you.

Boone has worked well.
I finished all of his missions and sent him back to the Lucky 38 to wait for me while I do some other companions missions.

So far I know of the following companions:
Veronica the brotherhood scribe - she seems pretty worthless
Something of Rose - the girl the Van Graffs wanted dead -
Grandma Nightkin
Boone

ED-E and Rex

Missing anyone?

Yeah, you've also missed the ghoul Raoul who's being held hostage at Black Mountain, voiced by Danny Trejo.
Veronica's one of my favourites to be honest; she's probably the funniest of the bunch, and if you give her power armour and a decent melee weapon, she makes short work of almost everything.

Mind you, in the end, I gave up taking companions for any longer than it needed to complete their loyalty quest. There are just too many bugs associated with them, including a nasty crash-to-desktop one in Vault 22.
