Re: Disney acquires Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion
that's the kind of thing that runs through my mind, when someone makes a movie in the 21st century based on a universe devised the same day sliced bread was invented.seremtan wrote:brings home how useless those walkers would be in a real fight
star trek can get away with making small design modifications to spruce things up. but shit like this (walkers etc.) there is really no way around it. they would do well to downplay those elements in the upcoming film.
Re: Disney acquires Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion
Walkers are awesome, fu

Re: Disney acquires Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion
k I get it... i really do. but you just have to get over it.
Re: Disney acquires Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion
The walkers were made, so the story goes, to intimidate the enemy (groundtroops).
You need to see them from the point of view of a ground troop to realise their effectiveness.
It would be like launching some Tyrannosaurous Rexs (with blasters on the sides of their heads?) at your opponents just to freak them out.

Re: Disney acquires Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion
Any fieldmarshallgeneralrastafari in charge of a Rebel force should prepare the ground when faced with Walkers. A simple series of extra wide, unoccupied trenches is enough to fell these monsters because of a basic design flaw in their propulsion system. There is no need for daring pilots to risk their precious craft in order to run cables around the Walker legs, that's just a completely irrisponsible waste of Rebel materiel.
Alternatively; build your Rebel base on a swamp planet, or on a mountain.

Re: Disney acquires Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion
Cause Walkers' sole purpose is to crush footsoldiers.
Not shoot at armored targets with those huge cannons.
Also, they're transports carrying ATSTs, wheeled vehicles and platoons of infantry. So yeah.
