He's right about one thing, education fixes the problem somewhat.

College Post Graduate - 30 % ownership
College Graduate - 37 %
Some College - 41 %
High School Graduate or Less - 42 %

Probably because the higher educated have a better chance of understanding difficult things like statistics and are more inclined to do actual thinking and reflecting and so on. Rather than you know, dream up elaborate fantasies about killing mass murdering cunts on a rampage with their concealed pistols (something which happened exactly once as far as i know, and that was after the event and not during - which makes this scenario incredibly unlikely, to the point of it being complete and utter bullshit).

Goddamnit there i go again, it's hopeless!

Alternatively, maybe people with a lower education are more inclined to live in "bad" neighborhoods and feel more compelled to buy a gun to create a sense of safety for themselves.

Impossible, you must have missed the bit where gramps said that the US soared past the rest of the world, there's no such thing as bad neighbourhoods there.

No. You asked "have you ever considered your founding fathers might have been wrong about the whole bearing arms thing". I was simply pointing out the success our county had because of the foundation our fore fathers provided and suggesting it was a pretty good indicator that they got most things right.

Not all, though. And maybe not one in particular, namsayn'
And maybe times change. Maybe it was a good idea back in the 18th century (when the most lethal thing was a musket) but not anymore.

Lead pipes are as effective in defending yourself from an invader as a gun would. Owning a gun will have no effectiveness in defending you from a tyrannical government headed your way. You won't even get to fire it.

However, as Alternet’s Max Blumenthal and Sarah Lazare recently reported, the FBI’s notorious record for planning and carrying out fake terrorist attacks just to catch potential terrorists may shine light on Mateen’s decision to later carry out an actual, deadly terror attack. Between September 11, 2001 and 2010, roughly half of all 508 terror suspects in the US had help from FBI informants, many of whom were criminals themselves that received upwards of $100,000 a year.

One recent suspect, 40-year-old James Medina, was arrested in April for plotting to bomb a synagogue in Florida. The FBI agent who coaxed him into the act suggested that after the bombing, Medina claim the attack in the name of ISIS, despite Medina having no ties to the overseas terrorist organization. After the FBI gave Medina a fake bomb, he was arrested and charged with planning to commit an act of terror with a weapon of mass destruction, which could potentially land him in jail for the rest of his life.

The US Senate has rejected plans to tighten gun controls, including the restriction of weapons sales to people on terrorism watch lists.
