Had to look back at the old pics to remember that wasn't a stone chimney! Curious, is it just the flue pipe in the column or do you steal the space back internally?

The column is strictly for the flue.

The fireplace is a wood burning Elite 44 from Fireplace Xtrordinair...

The column is hollow, other than the flue and insulation...

I think he's asking if there's a cavity between the flue and the walls of the column/chimney. It would seem like a waste of space if that's the case.

Nice job on the house. Bet you can't wait for the interior. You should hire an excavator and do the groundwork yourself. They're fun as fuck.

Yeah, we have some of our own equipment that I operate. I rented a small trackhoe to dig the electric lines and a ditch witch to do the water lines. Good fun...
