Sorry to hear about your knee donny, but congrats on finishing.
I finished and managed to get across every obstacle without falling (funky monkey, dong dangler, the balance beam over water, etc). Even managed to not get zapped by any of the electricity things, and we had 3 of them- one while crawling in water, one while crawling in mud in the dark inside of a blacked out room (the mystery obstacle, very cool), and then the gauntlet run at the end. Here was the course map-

Note that it was on a ski mountain, so all those up and downs were up and down very, very steep runs. My legs are quite sore today, for sure.

Good work dude! I fell in at the Funky Monkey as they ahd greased every single bar, not the odd one like that said they were going to¬
Your course looks harder than the one I did, though the hills would have been the same where I was (Scotland is mega hilly)
I got tagged once in the electric eel, but not at all in the Electroshock Therapy bit. Good times

So after my mini freakoutin the lake on the weekend exposed a serious weakness, I hit the pool at 6am this morning. I am hoping that 2 or 3 swims a week will get my cardio fitness up, help with my breathing (which should in turn help with my CrossFit WODs) and help with my core strength too.
Other than the lake on the weekend, I have not been swimming for about 7 years so I only did a light swim with a few lengths just to ease me in, but I am hoping to be able to complete 1k unbroken by the start of October.
It felt good getting in the pool so early, it was quiet and it really woke me up. Good times.

SO CLOSE.... Captains of Crush gripper #2
Luckily, the best picture position and my best squeeze happened at the same time.
Left hand, not so close, probably 1/2" gap, maybe less. The gap pictured here is what my left hand can do with the #1.5

You can close a COC 2 with one hand?
Fucking hell, that is seriously impressive.
I have a COC 1, and I can only just about close it. Probably the same as you with the 2, actually.
Great stuff.

I love these things... the goal is at least the #2 in both hands. Have a 1, 1.5, 2.5, and 3 as well. love me some grip training
When I can get them fully closed i'll do another picture. At work, we've been messing with the #1 and 1.5. Pinch a quarter with the #1 handles, and see how long before it drops. My best and second attempt was 23 seconds, previous was 17 seconds. Best with the 1.5 was 5 seconds but I'm pretty sure that I'll go over 10 seconds with the 1.5 next week. lol we waste a bit a time at work

Dunno how long I could hold the 1 for, nowhere near 23 seconds though.
I'm seriously impressed with that. Even when I was deadlifting ridiculous weights, I still didn't have the crushing power needed to close the 1 with repeat success. I could manage 4 or 5 reps, but I could easily hold 600lbs for 10 or 20 seconds if it was racked on a bar. Shows you how hard it is to develop true grip strength.
Do you have a grip training routine?

Not right now, but since I pulled the grippers out of the bottom of the box last week I plan on really stepping it up and working on it most days since it's something I can do pretty much anywhere. Grip strength is something i get into though, it's fun. I like trying to turn my hands into some kind of kung-fu master style of rock solid appendages.
Crossfit builds up the grip tremendously though, with all the oly lifts and kettlebell moves and pulling movements, it really taxes your grip and the ability to hold on. There have only been a handful of times my grip has been at pure failure or right on the edge of it though. This workout is extremely grip intensive:
21-15-9
Kettlebell swings @ 53lb
Pullups
400m row
so 21 kb swings (overhead, not chest high), then 21 pullups, then a 400m row and so on with 15-15-400 and 9-9-400. I think my fastest ever time on that was just under 8 minutes but that was two years ago. I want to try it again...
I have a 4lb jump rope as well which is a grip and pretty much a whole body killer. It is seriously hard to use. Lots and lots of double unders builds the grip as well (with a regular rope).
Lastly I've been playing with the Powerball for the past 9 years or so, on and off. kind of a fun thing but it helps with jump roping alot, especially one in each hand.
On a side note, after playing with the grippers most of the day, it was really hard to bowl tonight for league night HAHA
