Fact: Without Paul Gilbert, Racer X is terrible.

Ironically, Racer X (the two albums they put out with him? - I may have that number wrong) is the only band I like with Paul Gilbert. Mr. Big and his solo stuff never did it for me.

Fact: Racer X never released an album without Paul Gilbert.

And his solo stuff is more than awesome.

I thought he left in '88, after the first two albums?

lol, I see. I don't know how that would randomly come into my head.

Talib Kweli - Drugs, Basketball & Rap

edit: Oh, I'm a retard. I had to look it up and never knew that he helped reform the band. I always thought the newer stuff was without him after their first break up. In which case, my original post should be modified to this:

Racer X's newer albums (2000-2003) are terrible. Paul Gilbert or not.

:) terrible's harsh, but nothing beats the old stuff.

Well, I like the older stuff as well as the newer stuff. I think they are just a bunch of friends who happen to like and make the same music. To me, their humor and their fun of playing together is the main theme in each and every one of their songs.

So, in short, I like them all.
