I agree. Most of us here could manage our own avatars without doing too badly.

But: 1) there will always be the handful who can't, who will make these forums look like.......... well, one of those places that lets people manage their own avatars, and 2) if people can't change their avatar every 10 minutes, they put a little more effort into picking one, which makes the site look better overall, IMO
