That looks fairly familiar...

IIRC those ones were meant to be more forgiving. Fazers up to 04 seemed to be forgiving smooth bikes. Then they went a bit mental with my year and put a barely downtuned r6 motor in it but with all the other cheapness. Still forgiving, but not nearly as easy to ride. They sorted that out recently tho, the new fazers are much more similar to the kind you have and much more friendly.

So it might not have a huge kick in the nuts but is more than enough for the street eh?

Main gripe being the brakes are completely shit, don't think anyone's ever serviced them. Half the front brake pistons are seized. A tad lacking in power considering the overrated specs but more than enough to have fun on the shitty roads we have here :)
If it's underpowered and the brakes are shit why did you buy it?

Isn't the FZ600 engine just a detuned R600 engine? Get it tuned, would cost pennies.

The old fazer 600 was also a detuned YZF R6 motor (the Thundercat at the time). At 95hp it had more power than the later fuel injected FZ6, until the FZ6 S2 came out. I've pretty much heard the opposite, that the later fuel injected models were even more forgiving but until I've felt both for myself I'm in no position to pass judgement. The FZS600 has a proclaimed quarter mile of 11.5s and 0-60mph in 3.8s, which is pretty close to the gsxr600 SRAD claimed 3.5s.

It was an extremely cheap bike to get me through winter. The brakes just need a service (They are the Yamaha R1 bluepot brakes). You won't see many people round here trying to wrestle a 1000cc torque monster through the icy roads we get this time of year as it's just suicide.

I think we're using different terms for bikes cause of the UK/US split or something because I have a 1st gen FZ6 and it's the ~100hp version (97 maybe advertised? something like that) that revs to 14k. The second generation here make like 65 or 70 and only rev to like 12 but are supposed to be butter smooth. I haven't ridden one myself.

Here the old fzr600 motors were off of yzf600 which was like a middleground between the fzr and the r6. It was faired but with a more comfortable posture and the motor was a torquier r6 motor, making the fzr600 twice downtuned for torque/street riding. Then they went to the fz6, which was a straight torque tuned r6 motor and a hanging motor like the r6. After a few years it went back to the fz6r which is more like the fzr600, enclosed motor, double downtuned for torque and very different from the 04-07 or so fz6.

This is pretty damn surreal. I find the highsides are especially fascinating.

rnickymouse is a gold mine. You'd think it'd get old watching people crash at the same spot but it never does.

I've never understood why people enjoy watching other people get hurt.

Put this together a few days ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVVnCc9oD5w

for the 0 attention span internets if you skip to around 3 minutes theres some good turns near cool rock formations right by the road.

Most of it is just fall ride highlights tho. Real nice leaves and scenery.

That's some nice countryside I love rides like that. It's a shame you go so fucking slow and can't corner for shit. I also lol'd at your piece of shit bike falling apart on the way.

Lol are you a real moron or do you just play one on the internet? The speed limit on every road I'm on is 35. Despite what it says in the info of the video, my speedo isn't broken, I just didn't want to hear any shit from people.

So despite it being the first time I'm riding those turns, and despite being fully loaded with my camping gear and despite taking it easy cause I want to make it home, I only just slow to the speed limit for most of those turns. And those are the bits that I included in the video, I edited out some parts going quicker as 2 times the speed limit on video can't be explained away with excuses. Too slow for you? Lol.

Even funnier coming from someone who I guarantee hasn't ridden gravel (it'd get dirty!) nor has ever ridden with a load on their bike.

This would be you riding around there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNf_RBL_zuI going 15 mph and changing your line 3 times a turn.

That's why I like a cruiser. Nobody expects you to haul ass. It's all about the enjoyment of the scenery and just cruising. Lol, crotchrockets.

Actually I love the scenery when riding. I do a lot of my rides in national parks and on the coast.

You can't tell me you enjoy it as much when you're haulin' ass as you can when you sit back and enjoy the ride.
