Re: Battlefield 3
Ooooo, new patch today and its 3.9 EFFING GIGS. WTF?!
Hopefully it fixes the bug where you fall through the ground, that shit is a deal breaker.

Re: Battlefield 3
I had to re-download the client the day the beta opened for everyone.
This was posted on the blog.
- Terrain destruction disabled, because it causes problems with people crawling around under the map. We have a proper fix for this in the retail game, but chose to simply disable it for the OB

Re: Battlefield 3
So I go to EA's site to change my password. We are currently having issues with passwords containing
special characters (such as &%<>).
Until we have fixed this, you can change your password to
only use alphanumeric characters at http://profile.ea.com
GG EASystem Error. Please try again later.

Re: Battlefield 3
wtf? why do they allow characters like that in passwords in the first place?

Re: Battlefield 3
Why wouldn't they?

The game looks very, very nice. player physics are still shite, but that's expected with battlefield games. There are some showstopper bugs (e.g. players falling through terrain) that apparently won't be in the retail version.
Still, I regret pre-ordering it and strongly recommend that anyone who hasn't yet, doesn't. Standard features of the game have been cannibalised into Battlelog (a browser application for matchmaking/game selection/stat tracking). By 'cannibalised', I mean that they're not available from within the program itself - this includes squad management.
You *have* to be running a browser to play the game (not that Origin thing everyone was talking about, a browser). That's fine if you're some fruity fucking imbecile in tapered jeans whose technical knowledge peaks at being able to blog badly-framed but artily auto-filtered photos from their telephone - but it's a bit of a pisser for computer gaming enthusiasts or people who just like to run their PCs with the maximum of available resources/minimum of distractions.
Providing access to in-game functions from another platform/program is a great idea, but removing them from the game itself and requiring another application to be running just seems silly. Hopefully DICE/EA will listen to all the complaining that's going on, or there'll be another vehicle combat game along soon. Don't think it's going to stop me playing the game since I've already been daft enough to pay for it - but if they don't duplicate some of the stuff from the javascript bandwagon in the application itself (where it's supposed to be), then it probably won't hold my interest for long.

on xbox it's like playing paintball
game is stupid

also, i like battle log, and lol @ closing browser on a modern pc with 6+GB of ram. My browser is up 100% of the time my machine is on. I leave it up on 2nd monitor whilst playing. Battlelog interface is fast and only runs the "game" when needed. No more having to launch the game and sign in to see who is playing or leaving it minimized in the background like with BC2. It much more social and allows you to organize games with friends before you even launch.
Re: Battlefield 3
No, you're wrong and it's shit. Having to load origin, then load a webpage, then load the game, even if you just want to change settings? Fuck that.
All the game needs is a server browser inside the actual game and the job is done. Useless statistics can fuck right off, as can "empty servers" that become full in the space of a double mouse click.

Re: Battlefield 3
so 1 extra step form your typical steam game and considering everyone always has a browser open anyway its nothing...qq more nub.
Re: Battlefield 3
Except Origin is shit and everyone is having to install it just to play BF3, since they're forcing it on us, even though Steam does the job 10000x better. Fair enough, except games actually cost more buying direct from EA
Origin fail aside, they now expect people to have to go through a shitty browser system just to find games or even change your controls.... but oh wait, mouse binds don't even work yet
So that's 2 extra unnecessary steps than what we're used to and once you do actually get in game (after spending 5 minutes finding a server that you can actually connect to), you find a metric fucktonne of bugs, camping idiots and trees that look like they're straight out of a PS2 game
Basically, it's a massive disappointment and even the most hardened DICE apologists are struggling to say good things about it.
This image pretty much sums up BF3 atm:

Re: Battlefield 3

sounds like u mad its a beta and not a demo? also, im sorry your pc it too shitty to run a browser or render the trees better than a ps2. go play more deus ex
Re: Battlefield 3
I knew you were gonna mention it's BETA. Normally i'd say thats a good argument, except the final retail game is supposed to be out in less than 3 weeks
Enjoy your daily patches, noob
Oh and I have an i7 @ 3.8ghz, 12gb RAM, Geforce GTX580 and a million other things a Mac user could only dream of
Running at Ultra detail and the whole Metro map looks like shit. In fact, it gave me a headache because the draw distance is so large. It's shitty looking trees for miles and miles and you can't escape them

Re: Battlefield 3
Im sorry thats the best pc you could afford, do you need money? i have a lot.
Re: Battlefield 3
That's cool shaft. Give some of it to DICE so they can hire some developers who know what the fuck they're doing

Re: Battlefield 3
I'm staying optimistic. I'm not writing it off until I play the retail game for a week or so.
I still think CoD is better, though.

Re: Battlefield 3

Not my shot, but this is BF3 in ultra detail. Obviously optimised so that even Mac users can run it

Re: Battlefield 3
I"m sorry you're so mad I can afford apple products and still have a pc thats better than yours. Go pirate some more games, pleb

Re: Battlefield 3
Since money is obviously an important part of your life (alongside trolling up a forum you administrate and taking pictures of barbecues for one), how does it feel knowing your wife took half of it when she left you for another man?
Tragic. Only the overpriced, under performing lure of Apple can alleviate the self-loathing you have to endure daily
BF3 isn't even worth pirating at this rate, but thanks for your concern
