Watch Dogs
Re: Watch Dogs
Damn, a new video every other day...
Re: Watch Dogs
All that shit is from the half-hour video GKY posted already, though.

Re: Watch Dogs
GKY probably isn't allowed to post this
It's the E3 2013 (CGI) trailer for Watch_Dogs, but it's leaked ahead of the show:

New E3 2013 vids:
Here's a CGI trailer that was leaked that Eraser linked to - which is not in-game footage and looks almost photo-real - which gives some background into the player's motivations in the single player game.
Here's a 7-minute demo of a story mission in the single player game which also features the player getting help multiplayer-style from someone affecting the game using their iPad. That's one of the "connectivity" things the game is based on: someone can hack your game - even in SP mode - to help or hurt you, so you'll have to be on your toes.

Oh fuck, that sounds badass. Are you saying I could fuck with my friends while they're playing single player?GONNAFISTYA wrote:

Yes, in certain situations.
Re: Watch Dogs
Was thinking the other day, the PRISM leak is going to be like magical free marketing for this game innit...

I'm sure you'll be able to disable that in case your region is filled with dicks, not sure though.GONNAFISTYA wrote:Here's a 7-minute demo of a story mission in the single player game which also features the player getting help multiplayer-style from someone affecting the game using their iPad. Re: Watch Dogs
Out of all the vids released since last year's E3, this is my favorite because it shows the raw reactions of the people watching the action as it plays out in the demo. When I watch the QA testers play, I can't see their faces and because it's a dark, quiet room there's less opportunities for individual emotional outbursts, so the group setting in this vid gives me lots of feedback I wouldn't normally get.

I can't really comment too much about the multiplayer. I'm sure the entire MP scope will be announced and explained soon.Captain Mazda wrote:I'm sure you'll be able to disable that in case your region is filled with dicks, not sure though.
Not sure, though.
Re: Watch Dogs
The post also says that you’ll be able to do things like jack a car and ram into them. You’ll also be able to turn off multiplayer altogether if you want an intrusion-free playthrough. Wouldn’t be very l33t of you though…
Re: Watch Dogs
Would be a strange experience to have people interfere in a game you thought you were playing on your own.
I haven't played Dark Souls that apparently also features that. I kind of like the idea, the randomness and interactivity of it.
Wonder if it will attract a lot of trolls, who just want to fuck you over.
Shaping up to be a quality title. Haven't seen anything I don't like about it.
Should be finished about 99% now, right? Can't wait.

Re: Watch Dogs
Here's a video Ubisoft uploaded to YouTube, only to remove it a little while later. But some peeps downloaded the video and uploaded it again.
The video shows Aiden Pearce (the player from whose perspective we're watching) being hacked by another player and then being tasked with interfering with this hacking operation. The video then switches to another situation where Aiden Pearce (the player) is the one hacking into another player's game. He has to download something but it's not clear to me what it is and how the player will benefit from this.
To me it seems pretty cool that you can just jump into some stranger's game and start messing around like this. It reminds me a bit of Assassin's Creed's multiplayer mode.

Re: Watch Dogs
it felt highly annoying and will probably break the immersion. especially since most players will get everywhere by running and jumping, and normal npcs dont do that.
I also hope you can turn those objective markers off. a chase is a lot more exciting if you don't have this huge "follow this guy" marker floating about on your screen.

Re: Watch Dogs
Well, I think there's some advantage for a player to hack into some other player's game and succeeded at doing whatever you're supposed to be doing. That means it's in your best interest to remain undetected, which again means that jumping and running and doing weird stuff only works against you.
It worked well enough in AC's multiplayer, why wouldn't it here?

Re: Watch Dogs
most likely because AC's MP is in small, contained maps so running will get you nowhere. also in AC theres multiple people trying to get you and in WD theres only just the one. so blowing your cover doesnt matter as long as you can get away. which you probably can because it's so big.
also, I hope you can just sit in a car and to the hacking without being autodetected. in this vid it seems like he gets detected the second he touches the car, but that could just have been coincidence.

Re: Watch Dogs
The chap he's hacking sees him getting in the car with the CCTV camera, you can see it looking at him as he's shutting the door.
I think it looks kinda cool, I imagine you have to stay within a certain perimeter of the target you're hacking in order to download the data, so obviously in the first video the hacker escapes but the person he was hacking gets mission accomplished because his information/money/'whatever the point of hacking is' remains intact. I think the challenge will be staying close to the target while your hacking but not letting them kill you.

Ha!! This game might be the reason I buy a PS4

Four more months
I always wonder if in the last phase of game development the actual game is still worked on, or if it's more about PR, distribution logistics etc.

The release of that video by itself was a massive fuckup. It was supposed be somehow be a comedic piss-take connection to this video:MKJ wrote:

The hint that it's tongue-in-cheek should have been Aisha Tyler's stated hacked income of $4,294,967,200

It's usually optimization by programming nerds with the occasional fix by artists/level designers/mission designers who find holes, bugs and other various small shit to patch. This will happen literally until the last minute before submitting to gold master.Plan B wrote:Four more months

My work on it is pretty much done.

I have not one, but two surprises for you fuckers, but I'm not saying a damned thing until they're solidly locked into the game data.

Looks like the marketing team is having some fun with Aisha Tyler's comedienne background...
