Well, let's look at the Internet in general. People can be anonymous in so many ways. It makes it easier for people to go after what they really need in so many ways whether they even choose to admit those needs conciously to themselves, even, let alone anyone else.
Some of us are like we are anyway. Some of us are utterly different than what you would see on a BB like this one.
I believe you are right---on a place like q3w most people are looking for group social interaction. Most probably pursue anything personal in private.
No doubt there are some sociopaths on this forum and have been. Maybe there is a bit of the sociopath in a lot of us. But probably a lot of people are just here to kill time, seek information, share a common interest, amuse themselves, etc.
To be honest, I don't see this place as about "attractive" or "unattractive". Any photograph can be thought provoking, or engender a reaction of some sort. That doesn't mean it has to be about whether someone will compliment it or insult it on an intimate level.
Tbh, sometimes it is funny as it can be just watching people fall over each other, lie, compliment, get into flame wars over opinions or comments they have posted, etc., all over a few cruddy pictures. It has nothing to do with anything my ego needs. I couldn't satisfy those needs here or at a place like this.

you just seem so lonely, it seems like what you crave is empathy. That's what I think other people mean when they say you want attention. Internet communities I guess can be attractive for people who are lonely, especially people without social skills because it is possible to take your time and think, and there are always other lonely people around for the human contact we all crave. That sure is sweet of you to see me that way as opposed to some of the other more twisted ways, and I admit that I sure was lonely a lot of the time I used to spend so much time here. Alternatively, I was very close to a couple of people here and so I wasn't.
But the thing is right now in my life, though I am not seriously involved with anyone, I am not lonely per se. There is a real good friend I miss and am lonely for at times, but I think that is different than what you mean.
Actually I am about to go out in a few minutes with a good friend so I have to cut this short. I can definately see some lonely people here a lot. I have a real good friend irl that is in that situation, I believe.
Thanks for your good wishes. I have overcome the addiction here and am a happier person for it.

You know that is something that has crossed my mind. BT does like to argue things down to the letter. I have seen BT's pic before...one he himself linked me to and said was him---not one someone else said was him. So either he was lying then or if he is this alt he is lying now.
I don't guess it really matters that much. I was just curious who the alt is.
