for the record, you can't ever 'cheat' on a heavy clean. you either lift the weight or you don't. sure there's rules in competition, but on your own, anything goes
I meant cheat in the sense that you have to generate momentum.

Add snatches to the cheat list too

Indeed. All of the Olympic lifts involve cheating in the conventional sense. No max lift done with proper form can be done with just muscle strength.
In fact, the snatch is a perfect example of having to cheat it through part of the range. You couldn't lift a tenth of the weight using just the shoulders as you transition into the scoop.

As bad as I am with the snatch (zing!) it is one of my favourite lifts as it is so technical. When you get it right on the money the bar just flies up and you feel you could easily do another 10/15kg no drama. But it is geting to a point where you are consistant enough with the bounce and the drop to nail it every time. Then the is overhead squat at the end of it, which I suck at. Once again issues with locking out of my arms rather than leg strength.
Most I have ever snatched is 65kg so it is lightweight really, but then I am only 81kg and not a full time lifter so I can be reasonably pleased with that, for now.

don't worry you'll get that 80kg pretty soon
No i don't - I don't think I lift enough to warrant shelling out £90 on shoes
I'd rather spend £80 on a pair of inov8 all rounders

Actually that's the exact opposite but nice troll ... running barefoot forces you to run correctly, landing ball first.. even nearly flatfooted... as long as you land with your foot under your hip and not in front of it. It takes a long time to unlearn the 'new' way of running that was brought on by 'running shoes' and the heel strike technique that destroys your legs. I've never had any kind of injuries running barefoot, save for some minor skin loss which is nothing.
last christmas' 10k run, i'm kinda easy to spot. did it in 40:40... barefoot running is KING

Randomly talking to a mate about running and he was confused by someone running bare foot...reminded me of this

Been working out for several months now (exclusively upper body), seeing both physical and incremental rep improvement. But for the past month or so I've continued to see physical improvements (bis, tris, delts and pecs) without being able to increase my reps.
What gives?

Yg, what do you mean when you say you've continued to see physical improvements?
You mean you're getting more definition, or are your muscles actually growing larger?
If you're getting more definition, you're losing bodyfat, which means you're in a calorie deficit, in which case it'll be difficult to also gain strength.
Also, increasing your reps shouldn't be your goal. You should be trying to increase poundage.

Hey mate, pretty sure Gwamps is working out to increase the possibility of ass poundage, so he's got that angle covered already. What he's saying is, you should msg him for pics.

I'm gaining definition. But I'm not sure calorie deficit is the cause. I haven't modified my diet (meaning I'm not on one). I think that I am losing body fat without gaining strength. BTW, I'm not working out with weights. Basically a "jail" style workout (for lack of a better term). Maybe I need to introduce some weights.

Carry on...
