These photos of the new Audi R8 race car have surfaced. It’ll be lining up for the same 24-hour Nurburgring race as Volkswagen’s equally-menacing Scirocco. The engine size is decreased to 4.0L, producing 530HP @ 7.800 rpm and 480NM @ 7.000 rpm. Weight is 1.250kg. The exhaust system is custom made by Eisenmann, crankshaft by Omesa and pistons by Mahle. This is an effort by Michael Düchting, Bilstein and Sport Auto called 24h-Project 2008: Blue-Tec. It will race in the SP7 class

in some way, shape, or form, i'm to watch that race.. God knows "Nascar TV" A.K.A Speed aint going to show it..

i wonder if they are going to do the full ring....

Give Speed some credit Amidy, they've been doing a better job of carrying non-NASTARD races recently.
I want to see that race, too. I want to see the new Scirocco in action.

that car is a thorn in my side...

the old one was alright, it had its issues as did the other cars in the day, then the corrado came out ( First in the 1.8/2 16V, then in the 8V G60, then in the VR6 ) and the issues of the past where basically gone then in 95 the Cut production and sold off the reminaing cars.

Then there was talks for YEARS about releasing the Corrado again, And then we get the Scirocco... and honestly, i think it looks like Shit.. But hey.

it would be interesting to see how it stacks up, though i wouldnt hold my breath...

Though, i am waiting for the "Thunder bunny" to hit the Street... it Failed the Testing and the Manufacturer is fixing the issues... but damn, when that thing hits the street... ohhh yea

we're not alone... last month R&T's sport correspondent dedicated his entire column to pissing about the decline of Speed channel's actual racing coverage.
Makes you miss the days before FOX bought it and it was called SpeedVision. Where they showed such a wide variety of racing 24/7 you could even watch fuckers in England racing lawnmowers if you felt so inclined.

sweet... Yeah, i'd love to catch the 24-hr nurburgring. Never seen it on the telly any of the many years it's been run.
And yes it is on the Nordschliefe full-course. Hence the reason that GT4 has a 24hr race on that track. here is a video from last years aston martin effort.

I've always favored the 16V Scirocco over the Corrado, although the Corrado ain't bad. I'm not in love with the looks of the new Scirocco, but it's growing on me.
What is this "Thunder Bunny" of which you speak? The new R32?

As far as Speed goes, I had no idea they quit covering the WRC, that's mad gay. They certainly have their share of shit shows (Superbikes, anybody?), but the AMA/MotoGP/FIM and Rolex Sports Car series coverage is great. That show Pass Time (drag racing) is flat out retarded.

Yea, I'll be attending the Rolex GT car only race at Lime Rock on Monday next week, it should be a good time. Don't forget ALMS too!

speed is all we have, that's why i "like" it. if it weren't for them, i'd still be downloading ITV's coverage for the race (which i still do for the preshow)

I dont know to much into it at the moment, But apparently its a Turbo kit for the 2.5L Vr5, and its going to put down Numbers in the 4XX HP.

its not done by Volkswagon, but by the after market.

And i like the Scirocco's ( just not the new ones ), But as a owner of a Corrado... i cant say enough about them.
