Minecraft - Anyone into it?
Re: Minecraft - Anyone into it?
what the shit
i can't decide if this fun or just a massive time-suck (or both). if a future version can be made to look as good as, say, the source engine or UT2...

Re: Minecraft - Anyone into it?
It is now in the realm of possibility to enable item summoning while disabling griefing items like bedrock. This would allow everyone to summon any item in any amount for their build work.
On the plus side it speeds up the building of projects. The downside is it lessons the feeling of accomplishment.
I will enable this feature if there is general consensus for it.

Re: Minecraft - Anyone into it?
I'm amazed how current and speedy people are developing stuff for minecraft. Check this thread in the minecraft overview issues:^misantropia^ wrote:This is awesome:

Example:
http://smp.em32.net/map/
http://github.com/brownan/Minecraft-Ove ... s#issue/66
Just in the last few days people have worked out how to place labels for the overviewer from warp points and to also place current player position on the map. Within the last day they are working on getting the plugin to work for player position.
When I get time I'll attempt to install the overview for the server.

i say only allow water to be summoned since it can't be scooped up in the bucket.mjrpes wrote:It is now in the realm of possibility to enable item summoning while disabling griefing items like bedrock. This would allow everyone to summon any item in any amount for their build work.

I say do it. but disable bedrock, obsidian, and TNT.
People want to build big things without spending half of the time smelting or mining.
Plus you wont have people like silicone milk blowing up your shit if you take something from a chest.
Re: Minecraft - Anyone into it?
hey, I just want to build and have fun. I don't like having my man hours destroyed by silicone milk.
Re: Minecraft - Anyone into it?
na, enable obsidian, that shit takes years to mine in any decent quantity. (obs wants it for q3dm6 and me and auf would use it to finish up the carrier, yes it will be done)
as for the milk vs whoever, both parties need to let it go. it will not end well and will ruin the game for everyone. we got 1000 cubes squared to turn into some thing.. minecraft, the ultimate god game, no room for vendetta

obsidian should be as hard to get as it is to use.
it takes 20seconds per block. we don't need griefers like silicone milk spawning and laying 1000 blocks in 2 minutes when it would take hours to clean it up
Re: Minecraft - Anyone into it?
Obsidian needs obsidian.
Is there any way to tweak the amount of time it takes to harvest obsidian? Like make it 5 sec. per block instead of 20? That way, it won't be taken advantage of and it's still possible to clean up.
(Silicone_milk, wtf dude? Why do you always have to ruin everything for everyone?

Haven't found a mod to do this.obsidian wrote:Obsidian needs obsidian.

Guyz... I'm not hearing general consensus

Howabout if I make just common materials spawnable: sand, dirt, stone, cobble, log, water, lava, saplings. Everything else has to be crafted.

that along with coal would be awesome, finding/crafting the more rare items would be fair.

Re: Minecraft - Anyone into it?
I let the whole thing go days ago.
bkb is still running around blowing my stuff up though.
I haven't been touching either of your buildings, shaft and doomer. Quit acting like I'm griefing the entire server.

Re: Minecraft - Anyone into it?
item command is now enabled.
usage: /item <item> <amount> <player>
amount and player are optional. amount defaults to 1 and player = yourself.
following items are enabled. you can either enter the item name or item number:
1 = stone
2 = grass
3 = dirt
4 = cobblestone
5 = wood
6 = sapling
8 = water
10 = lava
12 = sand
13 = gravel
19 = sponge
35 = cloth
50 = torch
78 = snow
79 = ice
263 = coal
323 = sign (to encourage people to label their stuff)

new shot showing city development:
[lvlshot]http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/3580/map1flippedrotatedday.jpg[/lvlshot]
People are more than welcome to build houses on empty foundations to expand the city. People can also extend roads/foundations if they want. The city could also use parks and statues of doomer. I am trying to keep it sort of realistic, such that higher buildings are in the center of the city and shorter ones farther away.
