Yeah, I watched the first portion and it wasn't looking great for Obama. Not that Romney was doing well, but Obama just wasn't on his game.

I turned it off because I seriously can't listen to Romney without wanting to punch him in the face. Think there's still time for that, by the way, or does he have the Secret Service guarding him already?

all that hopey-changey stuff only works when you haven't been in office for four years, and people haven't yet had the chance to see that you were just bullshitting

Yep, the debate was anything but, and Mittens did a LOT better than I thought. Not sure if it was more Obama being horrid or Mittens being great, but the end result is the same, Obama lost.

I agree, Lehrer was a total nancyboy, Mitt stomped all over him. R. Lee Ermey needs to moderate the next debate.

They're both full of shit, and I'm voting for Ron Paul or Daffy Duck.

I was surprised by Romney but he was a different man than Obama expected to debate. All his policies and positions were either totally flipped around or undefinable.

His shitty laugh smirk smile he kept doing made me want to punch him.

Barry seriously dropped the ball.
Probably due to a combination of fatigue and underestimating the enemy.
I was so sure Obama had it locked...not so sure anymore.

A lot of it can be ascribed to people wanting change, just for the fuck of it.
Reasoning change, any change = progress.

lol

Yeah...so Romney "won the debate" by lying his ass off? And voters/pundits/journalists respect him for that?

Like I said...it's clear to anyone who pays attention just who the worst candidate is, but he still has a very good chance of winning because yanks live for truthiness and, as others have mentioned, it really doesn't matter what they say/lie about during the debates, as long as they sound confident when lying/saying it. Romney just told his lies better than Obama did.

lol American politics, etc

It's not just lying (which there's a ton of), but it's completely misrepresenting his intentions and policies (which he refuses to detail). There isn't an ounce of honesty in the guy.

Obama really needed to confront him on his bullshit more. Maybe he just wasn't prepared for all the lies, but he better be next time.

That's just wishful thinking and I'm pretty sure you know it. Not sure though. It's obvious Romney couldn't show his true colours on a nationally televised debate and that's why he changed nearly every position he had taken before the debates, but that's ok when the electorate is incredibly stupid.

Seriously...instead of answering a single question, Romney could have simply started a USA! USA! USA! chant with the crowd and people would say that he "won the debate".

Sorry, that's just not true, at all. He said nothing but what he thought people want to hear, it had no bearing on reality. He's been a lying bastard before but I think this was a new extreme.

lol what difference does it make? Every US president is in AIPAC's pocket, otherwise they wouldn't even get nominated. Everything else is an illusion.

I don't like to use the "my best friend is a black guy, so I can't be a racist" angle, but my girlfriend and daughter are both Jewish, and as far as I can see, any concern over Israel is is completely justified.

It's a filthy country full of scum, and I feel sorry for every Palestinian that has to share soil with them.

They have way too much influence over world affairs. Fuck them all.

That's the problem. People claim Romney "won the debate", but what exactly does that mean? I mean, someone can be very well articulated and be very convincing in bringing forward and defending his opinions and views, but those opinions and views can still be complete shit.

But that's the problem with American elections, the appearance of politicians is more important than their opinions and actions. Unfortunately Dutch politics are slowly sliding off in that direction as well.
