watch each snatch by ilin, the only differences between loads is how deep he has to descend to catch the weight. nothing else in the technique changes, which is a clear sign of true strength, flexibility, and technique. the lift of 120kg and the lift of 192.5kg are virtually identicle.

edit: geoff those are 25kg/55lb plates, you fucking noob

That's pretty fucking insane. 193kg is more than 400lbs, ya?

Fuck man... props to that guy. I ain't a weight lifting guru so I can't comment much on form but if he can do it with such fluidity of motion and what looks like zero mental/physical prep work, he's obviously got the best of it.

they cut the physical/mental prep work (basically his whole life) from the video, would have taken too much time. but here he is at the last olympics taking gold in his weight class and crushing a world record:

That's fucked. The clean & jerk is where they rest it on their clavincle and then slide under it? What do you think the weight was on that last Olympic one?

 Very impressive

I didn't mean overall prep work, I meant in the moment immediately preceding the lift. He just walks up and takes a breath and does it. Some guys seem to stand there for a minute and go "OK, here we go... URRRNNGNG!!!"

233kg/513lbs

Every lifter is different. some walk up and lift with no hesitation, some have their rituals, doesn't matter as long as it goes it. behdad salimi does a ritual :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-nlhZ0RR4A

i weigh 175lbs and snatched 175lbs in the earlysummer when i was out of shape and pretty weak, 5.5 weeks into a program right now. last week i did a snatch pull at 195lbs and it went almost neck high and i'm expecting to get that and probably more in january when i max out again.
everything is much better now.

well here's that hang snatch i mentioned anyways http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVIFvrOj-zY

175 is nice, according to exrx which has pretty high standards:

I don't have experience yet with the snatch so I can't imagine how it would feel. Still mastering the low bar deep squat :)

wellll... i know my numbers are low right now, but 250+ is where i aim to be this summer for snatch and close to or above 300lb for clean and jerk. ok maybe a year from now but i've got nothing but time :)

also don't do low bar, stick with high bar back squat. translates into better oly lifts if you wanted to go in that direction.

Negative, Ghostrider, all you need is one thread for everything exercise. It's a tried and true formula.

What we need is less herp derp

actually, those numbers on exrx were for power snatch, which I just learned is diff from a regular snatch
