why didnt Figo play at all in the tournament I could have sworn I saw him singing the anthem in the first game but no sign of him, he is still good enough to play imo I mean the striker for sweden is like 36 and hes like their fastest player. Just because ur older doesnt mean ur still not as good.

how do you figure? i was rooting for portugal, but the germans looked more threatening on the ball and seemed to enjoy possession more.

furthermroe, if it went to penalty kicks (ricardo and lehmann are both solid in goal), germany is the best team in penalties in the world.

when was this? they should have convinced him to come back at least, I mean no one from the golden generation is left besides gomez (who looks like he is only 18 btw) and its only beena couple yrs, all of a sudden the generation crumbled and fell apart or something.

after the 2006 world cup.

the golden generation had their time and chance. the newer players are better anyway IMO.

but they only had a couple chances, one of them the only reason they lost cause of a controversial handball in the 2000 euro. They should just bring some of them back or have a new generation vs golden generation game to see which team is better.

every generation has only a few chances. they played well in euro2000, but they also got whipped at world cup 2002. not only that, but they fell apart and played nasty and lacked maturity.

all that being said, yes, they were very good. im not comparing results exactly (because its hard to say when exactly the old went out and the new came in); i just think that, in general, the newer generation players are better is all.

I watched the game in a part of amsterdam that has a very large turkish community, everyone went fucking completely nuts after the game was won. Thousands of people were dancing on cars and singing and running through the streets with huge Turkish flags for hours. It was a very fun night :D

PS the game itself was not so fun to watch i thought, not a good game.

i wish people were as excited about football over here as they are there - or any sport for that matter. the atmosphere at those events overseas are insane.
