SW7: too much telling background, too little action for my taste. Was good though, solid 7/10. Looking forward to see Luke being the master/teacher type. Could be awesome, could be a total disaster.

Great work Phant . I guess you had a lot of input from concept artists to supervisors to maybe even JJ himself?

Looper: Very interesting concept, well executed. The third act dragged on for too long. Problem in the screenplay, I guess.

Yeah I worked heavily with the chief costume concept artist and the costume designer but not so much JJ. It was their job to sell their concepts to him rather than me.

phantasmagoria wrote:Bit of controversy there, the prick in charge of credits left entire departments out and didn't credit anyone under supervisor in costume (myself included). Big uproar, many twisted jimmies etc. Some people virtually quit over it, it's a pretty big deal. None of the girls who make costumes and the tailors got a mention which is really bad.

They're amending the DVD and luckily for me I'm credited as costume concept modeller in the official art book. Sucks for everyone else though.

edit: apparently I'm on imdb: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm7217669/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cr390
You guys will be relieved to hear it's been amended and I'm credited as a costume modeller.

I know this because the blu-ray's been leaked.....   :!:

If you pirate a movie that you helped make, does RIAA still come after you?

I dont know, but the MPAA might! For the record, I haven't pirated a movie since I stopped being a student and could afford to buy them. Same goes for software and games. (Someone sent me a screenshot).

Congrats, Phant.
That is some workshop to work at

You did the Kylo mask, right?

How do you feel? Are you paid good?

:olo: hilarious

I have nothing to do with propshop and their CEO is absolutely full of shit. They did some of the set dec, some weapons and a bit of the millennium falcon for force awakens and that's as far as their involvement to do with making things went. Nothing to do with costume armour at all. Their workshop is a pretty hostile place to work and they tend to burn through kids fresh out of college pretty quickly as their main workforce.

I worked for the actual production company in the costume fx dept, nowt to do with propshop or their useless feta-cheese printing voxeljet tech. We outsource to high quality SLA tech and then vacuum cast in house.

Propshop's main involvement in the film was that they paid the production to scan the props and costumes we made and they then resell that data to companies who buy a licence from lucasfilm to make replicas and toys etc as well as for the vfx guys. So when James Enright is there saying it's all from the same 3D data as used in the film it's technically true because it's the second hand rescanned data that the vfx gyys were forced to use. But as for the ACTUAL legacy data that I and my colleagues created. .. they had nothing to do with, which is why their replica props of the costume elements that they're selling at the moment are so terrible.

It's annoying because the misinformation and the replicas they're badly 3d printing and extortionately selling makes our dept. look bad. The helmets we made were 20x more durable and detailed. His Kylo Ren is terrible compared to our hero one. (I did make the original btw). He's totally misinforming people about the provenance of the costume FX and it really kinda fucks me off.

Rant over :alert:

How do you mean?

Edit: oh right... the production company was called Foodles for Force Awakens. It only existed for the duration of the film, i guess technically i worked for Lucasfilm? We're all freelance you see, I'm not loyal to a single studio, for the last few months for example I've been working for Warner Bros on Ready Player One and a bit of Justice League but I'll be going back to Lucasfilm in the not too distant future. Each film production has a different company running it and the crew move from one to another.
