Or just clean up the ATI drivers hanging about on your system.

Cheers for the link, I did it, I think it gained me a few marks but it was still only 14400 or so, not exactly the boost I was expecting. I've just formatted so tomorrow I'll benchmark it again and though I'm not expecting miracles I've got my fingers crossed that purging a load of shit from my registry after 2 years or so might make a difference, even without that this thing'll hopefully run a bit smoother.

medium is for people with 128MB cards ;)
Meh, my 6600 runs Q4 on high without a problem.

SO what are the best drivers at the moment? 'm currently running on the ones that came with it after getting that 13000-odd score with the latest ones and seeing a better score with the supplied ones. Right now I'm getting the recommended (as of June :-/ ) drivers on the Futuremark site.

That's the 77.72 drivers btw.

Youre testing with the wrong 3dmark version, you should try 3dmark2003 or 2005. I'm going run 3dmark2003 in a moment, I'll post my scores tonight

My point exactly.
They were testing medium settings on a 256MB card. I think that kind of fucked up the test.

Aye I know 2001's not exactly upto date but I'd have still thought I'd be rocking it with a decent card and an okay processor along with a gig of RAM. But I've finally got round to downloading 2003 again and I got:

8299 (I think, it's within 10points of that anyway).

I've compared with similar spec systems and the best was around 11000 with the card clocked up at 398MHz (not happeneing with standard cooling) and the RAM at around 800MHz. I might try clocking it upto 340 or so and bumping the mem up a bit but I won't be going crazy on stock cooling and with no RAMsinks.

Edit: Specs are:

Athlon XP 2800+ (Barton)
1 GB PC-2700 RAM
And of course the Asus V9999/TD 6800 128MB

After softmodding again following the reformat I ran 2003 again and scored just over 9000 which is a fairly nice improvement, but I did see artifacts on the pixel shader test which was a bit worrying.

I scored 8800 at 3dmark2003 (without any overclocking/unlocking pipelines)

I did try unlocking the pipelines today, but every game was full of artifacts, so I guess my locked pipelines really are broken.

I guess the difference is accounted for by the better processor :)

Scored 9500 last night with it clocked at 340MHz and 750 or so for the RAM. Same artifacts were there which I think were down to the pipelines so I might drop those if there's risk of doing damage. It ran flawlessly in Q4 clocked back at 335MHz though.
