yeah, and until forza comes out... even gt3 looks better than anything on the xbox.
if I wanted a pentium 3 shoved into a box bigger than a 1985 VCR i'd do it myself.
the xbox is just a re-skinned half-rate pc... always has been.
the ps2 has plenty of horsepower, most people are just not interested/don't want to use it properly, they want to make some easily portable, cross-platform money machine. And I don't blame publishers for that, maximizing profit and minimizing work is a sound business ideal... but blaming the console is just silly.
games that look like ass or run like ass are the developer's fault.
but all things considered... sony still has the biggest library of exclusive titles that have the most fun gameplay of any console.
who cares if you have a huge pirate library of xbox games if 95% of them are available in better form on the PC?
xbox is such a fad.

How does the modchipping actually work if you don't even open the box? Do you know specifically which boxes qualify as "old"?
if you have an older, V 1.0-1.1 I think, you can do a TSOP mod, but it has no where near the features of a Xecuter chip. I just ordered a X3 CE chip for my old X-Box cause it's DVD drive is crapping out, so I am dropping a new HDD in and playing games off the HDD. To put any mod chip in you need a torx driver set, its a screw with 6 points I believe. To put a X3 CE modchip in you will need to be fairly good at soldering, that said you will need a soldering iron, solder and some solder wick wouldn't hurt. The soldering stuff can be picked up at Radioshack for about 20 bucks. Now a X3 CE modchip will run you 60 bucks. Great site for tutortials is X-Box Scene.

ps2:
i still like it -
ico
soon ico2
final fantasy x
kingdom hearts (bad story but ACE gameplay! - and some really challenging bosses, something you dont see that often anymore!)
Tekken
silent hill
final fantasy 12 - in a year or so
kingdom hearts 2
rez
Its not crying, it true

I couldn't care less if the game was boxier than it is. The problem is, that playing at 15 FPS with that ugly shit being all thats on screen, is not fun to me.
You have no idea what you're talking about. If your ps2 only gives you 15 fps on games then it's just because it hates you personally

Aye, ok, PS2 does have a few jems, Thats why mine still sits under my telly. Its not a slimline one, I know better than to be a new version of a console that overheats. but with no fan

The year of the shite.
It was a fantastic console back in the day.
But come on, its to old now, and that pad sucks cock to play anything with...
Odium (the man who thinks remaking old games WITH HIGHER POLY GRAPHICS IS A GREAT IDEA OMGLOLEROFL!!!!!) doesnt like the PS2.
That's the best reason you'll ever have for getting one.

I bought a new slim PS2 just 2 days ago, it was only £110 with 2 pads and a game out of a selection of 8. £110 is fuck all, I only bought it for FFX which I've been wanting to play for ages, and it's great.

hmm the problem with buying a console now is that for each one of those there are SO MANY great games to play and so many are still about to be released, that you'll never "catch up" in time before the next gen console release, after which the current gen will quickly fade out I'm afraid.

I considered using that as a price saving strategy once. i.e. stay 2 years behind the times with your consoles and games. Games over here usually launch at £40 a pop and in the case of PS games within a couple of years all the best ones will be platinum games and therefore £20 a pop still brand new. Consoles are also loads cheaper a couple of years after release.
The problem is you miss out on all the hype and conversations.

have you got a second-hand place near you? i've been trading new games against old ones ever since i got a ps2 without ever losing out by more than a few quid because i don't hang onto them for long - only time that method ever lets me down is when a game's so good i want to keep it, which doesn't happen that often.

the soft mod is an exploit taken from a goof in coding in Mech assault....I am not entirely sure what the actual name of the game is, or what the exploit is called, but its real easy and for xbox'x before a certaindate, which i dont know either.
My cousin did it and he still plays xbox live and isnt banned so it works . I'll ask him more about it for ya

I believe Agent Under Fire and Splinter Cell can also be used for the TSOP mods.

Considering Nintendo still sold more GBA's than Sony and Microsoft sold PS2's + XBoxes combined, I'd say Nintendo are doing pretty well.
