No, everyone doesn't agree. The two other local server admins I've chatted with and my own CTF server which will be up in the next few weeks will have it enabled. Its a matter of opinion, not a matter of "right and wrong".

Definitely. I noticed the display was much smoother after enabling it on both Doom3 and Quake4.

well that is just lame. I would ask why you prefer view bob, but then I really can't imagine any reason that is actually legitimate. I suppose you are one of those guys who like to do everything "as the developers designed it"

Its not lame, its just not your preference. I have no problem with motion sickness and neither does anyone I play against so its not a big deal. IMO, it adds to the feel of the game.

hey you said it not me :D

no seriously though I see no reason to not setup servers so that view bob is not FORCED on everyone who plays there. If you want to play with it be my guest, but don't make ppl who get sick have to play that way. it's not nice.

Heres a newsflash: This isn't kindergarten and nobody cares much about "nice". Server admins will set the vars they prefer to play with and if people don't enjoy that style then there are plenty of other servers to choose. Admins are good enough to provide bandwidth which they pay for already just so other people can have a good time. Expecting all admins to cater to your personal preference is unrealistic.

What's wrong with putting the view bob decision in the hands of each player. So far as I know you can still play with it on if you set it client side even if the server has it off. If you're a good admin you would do what you can to make your server enjoyable for the players who play on it. Sounds to me like you enjoy making people play the game how you see fit. Anyway I don't care what you do with your server cause I have my own that I pay for, but I just thought the voice of all the other players out there who don't like view bob needed to be heard. Apparently it is falling on deaf ears though. Carry on server nazi.

Your wasting your time, just play and we will see where everything falls out when Raven releases a patch.

Do you even realize how much of a whining bitch you sound like? If someone doesn't like the way a server is configured they can click the disconnect button and then click the browser button again to find one of the other 1,000+ servers to play on. For example, I don't personally play on servers without PB enabled. That doesn't mean I piss and moan about how all server admins should enable it ; instead I simply choose a server which is configured according to my personal preference. Simple concept...:icon27:

The feel of motion sickness. :p Hence the green font of your posts? :puke:

Bobbing and rolling of your view is just distracting. I don't mind weapon bob though.

Right. So when i see a server i want to play on (good ping, gametype you want, people you know on it) i should just disconnect and go find another when it has bob enabled? Works for a noskill DM server but not if you're looking for something more specific. If things like this bobbing were client side, server admins wouldn't have to worry about it and there wouldn't be any bitching about it. Simple concept or what? :icon8:

I'm running at 1024x786@100Hz, but overall i find Q4 much harder on the eyes than Q3. I just have to concentrate much more because of the poor visibility of models and the relatively low frame rates.

Whoops, forgot to mention refresh rate.

Not resolution, refresh rate.

I was in the same boat, mad headaches after 10 minutes of play, maxed out my refresh rate on my monitor and now its fine. I have also tweaked other things but it was the refresh rate that was the killer I think.

Jesus Christ guys, what a fucking debacle of a thread.

Bob makes some people sick. If you want to keep it on on your server, then you can, and you risk driving away players because of it.

Maybe Raven will fix it with the first patch, so it isn't locked server-side, and it isn't an issue anymore.

Isn't that really all that needs to be said about this topic? :icon27:

A lot of players seek out servers without view bob. I have "NO VIEW BOB" in my server name, and a lot of ppl comment on how they are so happy to find a server with this turned off.

My whole point is that there is zero reason to force people to play with view bob. Therefore it should be turned off on the server and if people prefer it then they can turn it on. Basically some ppl are saying "If you want to play on my server you are going to have to play with view bob cause I like it and so should you." That's just an assanine thing to do.
