But those other games you mentioned do require a special ability and the physical conditioning comes with memorizing the perfect form or lowering your reaction time.Nightshade wrote:A sport is something that requires athletic ability and physical conditioning. A game does not. Football, hockey, auto racing, basketball, these are sports. Golf, baseball, darts, bowling, video GAMES...well, you see my point.
Yeah not bad money for third and fourth shit, top 8...Zyte wrote:fatality beating stermy right now.

Lol, what an apt name.
Great but you haven't achieved anything in life of note that anyone knows about. Whereas Fat is not only rich, not only ENJOYS what he's doing, not only is giving something to the community and furthering esports, but he's also got a name and can enjoy his fame. He doesn't see it as work. He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth like you.Freakaloin wrote:not really...i got that now and don't have to do jack shit...
Inolen: He made $100,000+ in year 2000. This year he will prolly make $200,000+, which is a bit more than an average fresh-out-of-college graduate.inolen wrote:Shitty job. You have the be the absolute best to make even a fresh out of college kid's salary for the most part (althought Fatality makes quite a bit from his products and shit).

Fatal1ty is far from the average "pro" gamer in terms of contracts and money that he is pulling in. I bet most don't even pull in 40k. Has any contest payed out more than 25k yet to a single place?hax103 wrote:Inolen: He made $100,000+ in year 2000. I am not sure if there were any in the past that were over 25K for a single person, 2001 there was a 50K CS top prize but I dont play that shit so I dont know how many are on a team. Also that year fatal1ty won a car that I do not know the value of.
This year however there is the world tour, each stop paid out 15K to the top player with something like 6 or 7 stops, and then the wrap up bringing out the big money.
There are also the first Q4 tournaments, CPL Summer Championship
Prize Distribution
1 $60,000.00
2 $34,000.00
3 $20,000.00
4 $11,000.00
5 $8,000.00
6 $6,000.00
7 $5,000.00
8 $4,000.00
9 thru 12 $3,000.00
13 thru 16 $2,000.00
17 thru 32 $1,000.00
33 thru 64 $500.00
But before that a winter tournament worth 30 total I think.
Not mad NFL/NBA/MLB money but hell, they are playing computer games ffs...

None. I get what ur saying and i agree. Being a 'pro gamer' is way too uncertain, but i wouldnt mind giving one year up for at least 238, mayb 288k if i was gifted and my game was chosen by cpl ;]inolen wrote:Which tourney? It says this tourney is supposed to pay that, but what tourney payed that in the past?
this tourney's prize money is insane:
1 TBD 150,000$
2 TBD 100,000$
3 Stermy 70,000$
4 zyz 50,000$
5 Booms 35,000$
6 Ztrider 25,000$
7 wombat 17,500$
8 ForresT 12,500$
Re: Pro Gamer Travels the World to Compete
I don't consider it a sport at all, there's hand eye coordination in trying to blow your load on a girl's tits but that's not a sport either. Involvement of money just makes it a competetive passtime.jester! wrote:I would say the majority of the pros at the tourney could run more then 3 yards.mik0rs wrote:By "fans" do they mean "pasty fat bastards who can't run more than 3 yards"? I like games but it's not sport.lars63 wrote:this lanky blond has become the face of what fans refuse to classify as anything other than a sport.
There are plenty of ways gaming could be a sport. Hell if you can make money at a game I would call it a sport, whether its chess/poker/football/basketball, whatever...
Back on topic, good games between fat and vo0. Fat could never pull away when he was in control of the map like vo0 did whenever he was getting the gold/mega...
But you'll have your opinion and I'll have mine.
