I asked denz to put it on the q4w server. This release has some of the meaty features I've been waiting for. clan arena is a pleasant surprise.

Ug! Don't mean to hi-jack the thread Nightshade...

But crap. I downloaded the q4max.071 and extracted it into the Q4 folder.

I'm just unable to connect to any server as of yet without the missing files coming up.

*hmmmm* goes back to check my files and such. I went to http://www.uzaclan.net's q4max server and downloaded all maps he's using. Yet I'm still missing something. *Smirk*

:edit: Just read that there were some problems uZa was having with .7 so they went back to .5 ok... so I'll go try a few other server before I post again. Lol!

:edit:++ Well since I now have uZa's server in my server monitor along with a few others it shows it's using .71 q4max with custom maps... wonder what I'm missing... goes to look at their downloads folder again... *DOH!*

Hola bro. Yea, we're using .71 now. The most important thing to make sure is that you don't happen to have an older version of a map than me. I try to keep ALL the beta maps updated. Even though your map_swq4dm2.pk4 will have the same name as mine, you may still be running BETA 1 to where I have BETA 2 now.

Jeez... I wish they'd hurry up with a patch to fix all this mess. :(

Ahhhh No worries. I saw your post after I had already hi-jacked Nightshades thread... DOH!

I updated a few maps that I had gotten earlier this month from your site.

I'll try them tomorrow when I get time. My Q4 doesn't want to work right tonight. I'm up too late is the problem. Hehehe.

Thanks though for the info and I do hope they get this patch out soon to fix this.

Me?

I just got into this q4max right after seeing DooMer saying the Quake4World server would be going to q4max .71 ;)

I actually thought I didn't have enough files for q4max... but now I've been able to connect the the uZa server with no hitches.

The Clan Arena looks and feels familiar almost.... Definately a nice touch!

Ah cool, yeah I thought you may have unzipped into your old folder which apparently can cause problems. :icon32:

No worries. I did unzip it into the Quake4 folder though. I did one thing right. *Teehee*

Have you tried the uZa server?

Reading what troubles I had last night is sounding pretty much what you're going thru.

Try connecting to the following server:

67.19.62.215

When it says you're missing files and gives you a re-direct telling you it will close Q4.
Do so and then download all of his maps.

If you try and connect to a server that has a map file that you don't have? even though it's not running that map I believe you still have to have the map in your baseq4 folder.

Meaning. ( I think I'm corrrect on this.. )

For example:

The server you try to connect to has the following maps:

q4dm100001
q4dm100002

When you try and connect to the server you need to have in your baseq4 folder
BOTH of those maps. I'ts just a bug raven and ID didn't think was much a problem when they released the game * me thinks *

I hope I'm correct in thinking this and if I'm off base? please put me in my place and stop me from confusing Nightshade *teehee*

Well I'm off to see what the family would like to do today.

No its just the pureserver/autodownload issue. Something that in really any other software development would be considered a critical updatetodaytofix error. Serious bitterness.

Really now, since no new players are going to have the patience to deal with this shit, you may as well map for the hardcores that are left, enough of these Rail + YA maps. :icon25:

You're correct Piecemaker. You must have ALL of the pk4's that the server has in it's BaseQ4 folder.

Thanks for all the plugs on our server lately to btw. It's been seeing allot more activity!

Good games earlier too.

Oh hell yeah that was some fun!! Those were some very chaotic games at times.

I was simply running around trying to stay alive long enough to to kill someone else. *teehee*

Was very fun earlier. I like the q4max mod.

I'm down to play any time! I check the server quite frequently so if you get on, hang out for a bit and I should jump on. :)

I'm REALLY hoping to get this server as popular as all of our CoD servers. I think it'll be good once Download redirection starts working. I plan to make sure ALL the good maps get on there and stay updated on a regular basis to keep the game exciting. I get tired of playing the same old maps day in and day out personally.

Our regular CoD for example, has over 30 custom maps on it. All GOOD and FUN maps to, we check them before we add them and remove the ones people complain about in the forums. That server is usually full with 32 peeps 24/7. As is our CoD2 server (Actually, we have 3 of those).

Run around frantically shooting anything that moves.

Ok, q4max is up and running. One last thing we need them to do is set fs_game_base, but you shouldn't have to worry about that.

numerous times in tourney until I faked a sudden illness :shrug:

I hope we have a good CTF game on soon on that large map Tremors right? That's a fun 1!!!
