I have a butane lighter but opted to use a regular one instead, frankly I don't think it makes any difference. I didn't have a good screen for the black powder either so I just used a light bed of weed at the bottom to stop the salvia from dropping into the pipe. It burns pretty hot once it's going but you can visual tell it's burning up just with a regular flame. If not you aren't really in a position to compare, though I am interested to hear that you got anything at all from it, as I wasn't aware taht you could.
I'd like to try it and I want to do it properly.
I did have some of the oral extract but it was a lot of hassle for only a mild effect. You have to hold it under your tongue for several minutes (it's only absorbed sublingually) and it stings. I had what the label said would be a medium to strong dose and all I got was a brief gigglyness and some mild visual vibrations.
I was pretty high too, I thought I was a wall for a period of time.
