its an even worse thing to do to your kids

that thing about shoving your finger down the cats throat if they bite your finger, and the one about spraying them with water - those have sorted out my gf's kitten (which is mine unless it's just sitting there being cute, then it's magically hers again).

used to be a vicious little bastard, but it's chilled out a lot now. still fights with all it's toys and any animal that wanders into the garden, but otherwise it's cool. most important thing is consistency, you have to react in the same way EVERY time the cat does something wrong.

had to look it up, that really is quite fucking barbaric. why even own a cat? why not just buy a stuffed one or sew a cat pelt to your favourite cushion?

Thanks for the all the responses guys, I might go ahead and try that vinegar trick... then again I hate the stench of vinegar as well, it might keep me away from her more often :icon26:

I've tried finger in the mouth trick until she's absolutely sick of biting, but 5 minutes later back to biting.

I wouldn't normally get a cat declawed but when a cat just leaps at you for no reason during "play-time," giving you multiple scratches everyday, it's just ridiculous not to have it declawed.

My cat does that. It's not aggression it's playing.

we got the best cat in the world...good with kids, well behaved and doesn't even use a litter box...he doesn't even shit in the yard...he goes to the next door neighbors for that...and thats what they get for building a house next to us...

Just a quick observation.. it's impossible to touch her without her doing that, EXCEPT if she's asleep. While in bed at night, if we move too much, she'll attack us.

we have had cats like that...i would just get rid of the bitch...seriously...

Yeah the cat views it as playing.

The point is you have to either endure getting bitten constantly, or teach the cat that it's not an acceptable form of play.

Just like bringing mice to the door. If it happens once every year or something then alright... it's a present for the family, give the cat some praise dont shout at it.

If it's a really regular habitual thing tho, encouraging it is gonna result in a whole lot of cleaning of blood and guts.

Does it depend on where you touch her? One of my cats does it because she doesnt like her belly getting touched.

All cats chase you when you move in bed. They dont understand that the object under your blanket is you, they think it's something to hunt and attack.

If you do it over and over again every night she will eventually realise its not something thats worth hunting.

I've dealt with a few kittens in the past and I know when a kitten is simply playing.

We don't have to play with her.. she'll attack us randomly, be it biting us in the leg or leaping at our legs attacking us when we walk around.

I can't stress enough how its not simply play - think of it as the worst cat you could ever own. We've wanted to get rid of her on many occasions but we're hoping theres some way to break her of all her bad habits.

It's best described as a very violent temper, and I'm not sure if those can be fixed :icon30: [/u]

That's not the only reason. His playing and biting doesn't bother me. This neighborhood has enough strays. No need to have mine adding to the population. Not that he'll get outside, but just in case. He's also been declawed and vaccinated.

I bought two lovely little girl kitties a few months ago - 4 yr old sisters - and one would bite every time we had luvins - but ONLY when we were loving. I asked the vet about it and she said it's called "Status Related Aggression" and it's because the cat wants to control the interaction. She said another sign is when a cat is CONSTANTLY in your way (it wants you to have to move around it, thus controlling the interaction).

Does this sound like your cat or is it just fucking w/ you constantly?

Not too sure - I'd never bother finding out if a non-cat lover liked me or not! (But I read about a study that made a correlation between men who don't like cats also being likely to not like women....)
