You must have had a slow CPU then. I got very decent fps with my TNT2 on my Athlon 550 with 64 MB ram back then. :)

Anyone think that using a set of USB headphones might help my FPS problems a bit? I know I'm probablly grasping at straws here, but hell if Q4 fps only lags to the 20's it would be a HUGE difference for me.

In theory an USB headset would use more cpu time than a decent sound card. Uninstalling your current drivers and using windows drivers could probably 'fix' the problem too (by not using openAL).
