No shit, I'm aware it's pretty obvious to most everyone, but I was giving context to my question.

Nice :icon14: As Transient asked, what's the aspect ratio of the left display? I assume the right one is 16:9, but the left looks a fair bit less high if it were rotated the same way.

TheRealZimbabwe wrote:why the hell do they limit that to the US only? I'm in Denmark, and on their danish site they're almost twice the price. Damn. Would it be possible to order it anyway, or wouldn't it work because of PAL/NTSC standards?
you can just order them, no worries
in the Netherlands there is no customs duties nor taxes to be paid for importing computer equiptment
if it would have a tv tuner you would have to pay those, but since there isnt....
check your customs service for details, it is waaaaaaay cheaper importing one then buying one 'locally'

I was also thinking about the PAL/NTSC problem, wouldn't it be difficult to fix? Or is it different with computer screens? Ahh confused...!
nah, no such things for anything other then a screen with a tv tuner

I usually just play halo 2 through Component (well now I do) other than that I am working :/ I have to s-t-r-e-a-c-h them, but mosty I run a black screen at home because I work in the dark.

nice chunks of kit there tho
I work in a 90% Dell environment, it's easy for me to see things before I buy them and try it out. Also if anything is wrong with it, even 1 dead pixel we get priority next day replacement for 3 years. Can't beat it...

Dell addicted eh? Here's a scary pic of my work area from last year ...

Yup it rotates to landscape 1680 x 1050 (16:10) I am just trying to mess with it. I find I am not even using the second monitor at all :/

dnoyc wrote:btw how much are you looking to sell the 2005FPw for?

$400.00 + shipping
it's pristine with original box and packing, wires, etc and 33 months left on the warrantee.

I also have the same monitor, but it cost me over $1000.00. It is an awesome monitor.

Nice monitor. any of you know what the deal is with FP LCD vs. plasma? I know the basics, burn-in, lifespan, etc. but what else if anything, is there to consider? Response-time? Resolution?
The thing is, plasmas are cheaper than a monkey dressed like a hooker lately. Also, the size seems restricted--largest LCD I've seen is the dell W3706MC 37-inch:
Image
1366x768 capable, which is about as good as it gets, afaik

Plasma's have much greater chance of burn-in, although recent technology have helped a bit. don't buy a plamsa if your going to be hooking it up to your computer and running apps.

plasma arguably have richer colors, although that point is debatable.

plasma's supposedly lose screen brightness over time.

large LCD's are not common right now but that is changing.

plasmas are limited to 720i resolution IIRC, while 1080i resolution exists in large LCD. looks at the specs when you are buying.

plasmas use more energy.

hopefully others can chime in.

Just thought I'd chime in.

It's a very sweet monitor GH, I almost bought it with my dell discount but the wife shot it down, so im stuck with the 20" for now. We have a 30" that's out now as well but it's 2k$. I've seen that monitor numerous times and it is sweet. Very bright and rast responce times as well.

And yes, I work for Dell in Gold Tech
On a sidenote I will be headed to ottawa canada in the near future to train new employees.....anybody local?

When I go to the dell.com order page and try to order, it won't let me ship out of the US. So I can't get it shipped to Denmark, really. I need to have someone in America I can ship it to who will then ship to to me from there. Damn..

Oh and GH: Why are you learning Danish? Friends, family, work?

mjrpes wrote:G}{, feel free to answer my question if you didn't see it the first time.
It's smooth as butter when using the component inputs and playing Halo2 from the original xbox. I did adjust some settings to hide the spanning from 420i, I jacked the sharpness all the way down, it cleaned up the lines and edges.

As far as PC games I have not fired any up... maybe ater tonight when I get home.

Doesn't the 30 require a special video card?

Yeah. i :olo:ed at the price too.. im seriously considering a dell monitor ;)

why would you lol at the price?

a, the sub $400.00 monitor does not carry a 3 year warrantee

b, they will be over $400 in a week or so.
c, I don't want to sell it for less
d, the longer dell keeps the price below $400 the long I will continue to use it.

then there is also the factor that most people do not know the deals and will pay through the ass for it and I kave no problem selling it to them since these are the same people who think it's Okay to call me on a sunday morning and ask me for computer help when I don't even consider them friends...

Um.. for 60 bucks you get 5 years..

Fact is, you USED it.. you took life span from it, and its no longer NEW.. your selling it for a NEW price..

Try 300ish.. 400+ shipping is retarded..
