the trouble with dell product (in Aust anyway) is that you have to ship ur machine a looooong way away if it needs fixing, finding dell authorised techs locally can be a pain... :(

edit: being in a losCHUNK thread :icon31:

I would personally go for a Dell or IBM or even a Toshiba before buying an HP. Just my personal opinion.

IBM is what people with money use. My parents got themselves an Asus A6Ja, which is quite nice (good quility built-in cam, X1600 mobility graphics) but the 1280x800 resolution is a bit low. Asus is very well priced but definitely not top of the line. I think i'd still prefer an Asus laptop over an Acer/Toshiba/HP.

Thinkpads are a bit effing expensive, though. Plus, you'd really have to love that nub.

For corporate use I'd recommend a MacBook or a Lenovo Thinkpad, for personal use I'd get a cheaper Acer or Asus. Can't say I like the Dells, they're all feel pretty clunky.

have they actually fixed all the problems with that now?
....apple just up and released their own solution to do it. It's currently beta, but it works for most people. A few deficiencies like the camera not having a driver for it, should be remedied when they come out of beta.
