I had a funny little accident on Sunday on that bike. I stopped over on the side of the road for a drink and had my right foot clipped into the pedal. I accidently leaned to the right and couldn't unclip in time and found myself rolling over with my face up to the sky with my back on the grass and the bike upside down on top of me with my foot still in the pedals.

I imagine I looked like a turtle that had somehow flipped over upside down on it's shell by the side of the road. I'm glad no one was there to see it, quite embarrasing. Scratched my right pedal a little though. :tear:

here's mine, with most of me deleted from the pic :p its from a charity ride/race last year. I did a 10 mile sprint, got 1st place (not that it was much of a race, but the top 20 people were making it one):

I had a devinci Enigma in my younger days and it was a pretty quick road bike but man those things are pretty sketchy to use for fun, too fast and too easy to get a flat tire.

I've seen a number of decent bikes for under $500. I'm only looking to do this recreationally so I'm not going to buy a top tier bike.

you don't have to. i'm sure you could get a kona for $500ish?? my point is, it'll be a great bike for the cash.

Actualy I think what Jackal doesn't understand is that around here 500$ Canadian doesn't get you much in terms of a bike. It'll get you a pretty nice Canadian Tire Bike Jackal but the thing will weigh a ton and after a little while it'll start acting up like they all do. It's all the little things like that which make you not want to cycle. I'm not trying to convince you to buy mine but you should seriously try to find a nice used bike, for a good second hand price. It's your best bet. You'll get a machine you'll actualy enjoy driving around because of all the little things and you'll wind up exersizing that much more because you enjoy it. That is if you're not just a complete couchpotato.

I'm looking to get rid of mine so I can buy another one, the one i have is from 2004 but it wasn't ridden very much. A friend of mine did have a spill on it once however and the rear of the seat was torn a little and some superficial plastic on the front was cracked a little. Otherwise the bike is in perfect condition and fit for riding for many years to come, aggressive riding anyway, casual, you could own that bike for your entire life.

My last bike which I raced with was a Giant ATX 970, I had that one for 8 years.

I've already talked to the guy at Radical Edge today (not Canadian tire) and he's got both a Kona and a Trek that he said will suit my needs nicely and are right around my price range. But thanks anyway moron.

Yeah I'll probably wind up selling it for about 500 when it's all done, not to that retard though. :olo: I can bring it in to the bike shop for a trade in credit, they usualy give a pretty decent price for it.
