The whole VIP star points idea is a massive failure in Europe. They had a few good offers indeed, but the wallpapers and ringtones they have on there now are shite anyway.
In japan, however, they have a similar system and they continually have great offers on there. But it's always that way with Nintendo. Europe gets screwed.

tyvm - gave me a good general idea.
Now a question:
Does the controller sample your movements with any high degree of accuracy?
For example, in the sword fighting game, will it measure the exact angle and velocity of the stroke?

according to reports it's
very accurate. And yes, it'll be aware of the angle of the controller and the position of the controller in a 3D space. For instance, in
Red Steel, if you turn the controller sideways and you're holding a gun in the game, your character will hold the gun sideways as well.

One more point why Wii would succeed:
The competition reasons like this:
One of the biggest controversies to emerge from E3 revolved around the price of the PS3 - which, as we revealed last week, will cost £425 when it hits the shops on November 17th.
But UK retailers have told our sister site, GamesIndustry.biz, that the high price is unlikely to put off hardcore gamers.
Hardcore gamers, yeah, all
five of them.

Playstation became the number one selling console simply because of the price.
70% of its owners bought the console once it dropped the the price it is TODAY for gods sake.
Not to mention 33% of all consoles bought anyway are faulty, and those "re-bought" units count as "sales".
In other words, sony are betting the PS3 will fly of the shelves like the PS2 did that christmas. They forget that the average joe kid will NOT be getting £600 spent on a single present this year.
Its JUST the hardcore fans that will buy it. And even then you have to be a retard to buy a console when theres nothing out for it. Metal Gear yes, but thats out christmas. So why pay half a grand on a console thats got an unproved disk drive in it, by a company that will more than likely be pumping out faulty consoles at launch anyway, with no games that are any good... Well, resistence is good, but not good for me to spend money that would keep me living for a few months...
I think sony put to much faith in this thing. Yeah itsa good machine, a great machine. It can do a lot of shit of course. But how many people NEED all that shit... WiFi? Fuck that.

Sony invented the guide button and motion sensor momo. Turnin a console off by holding the button is nothing.
