I think this isn't a case of people not reading the thread, but a case of people thinking "your friend" is you.

Shes going to pay a buck a pill anyways..
if you've read the whole thread, iccy seems to imply that even $60 for a chiropracter (some of whom I wouldn't go to if my life depended on it) is too much.

If this lady really even needs these pills, I want to make sure he knows that she isn't going to be getting a bottle of these for the price of advil.

Its a crack on her spine tnf. Its on her tailbone, in 3 spots and i think she has a hairline fracture on one or 2 of her lower vertabrates. Plus when you said doctor, i though something pricer. They are only 60 with no insurance?

But either way, she needs surgery. Just trying to make life not a living hell till its a option.
So she has seen a doc in the past and been diagnosed with spinal fractures? In that case, if she has the medical records, she shouldn't have a problem getting the prescription.

I would guess you'd pay about 60 bucks for 60 pills without insurance. Couple that with a doctor's visit for the scrip and she's looking at anywhere from 100-150 I'd say.

But none of this really means much if there is no long term solution. here's what will happen - she'll get a scrip, and if she has to take them all the time for chronic pain, she'll become tolerant, so the dosage will go up. She will finish up her scrip, and if she has no refills have to go through the same issue to get another one. If there are refills, there won't be more than 3 I think. If her tolerance goes up, so will the dosage she needs to get pain relief. That means she will probably finish her bottle before she should, making it tougher to get a refill. Eventually, the docs might bump her dosage up, and as a result give her more pills per scrip, which will cost more money and make it harder to pay for them.

I'm curious, how does she know she has these cracks? When was she last x-rayed for this? Why did that doc not help her manage the pain?

And yes, this thread does sound EXACTLY like the stories people give when trying to score hydros.

It's a bit unfortunate, because I believe iccy here, but the fact that so many people cook up stories like this to get drugs makes it difficult for people with real problems to get medication and they are often treated like common drug addicts when they do.

Well she has this friend thats a doctor that sees her on the side i guess, not fully clear cause its not my business to pry into others lives, but i think he checks her out on the side, i believe its a barter system where she does law stuff for him and he does the doctor thing for her. She went down and had it x-ray'd a while back and they told her about it. This doc is who writes her the scripts, like once a month, but she accidently dropped them down the drain when she was pulling the cotton out, so she is running out WAY before she is supposed to. I asked her if he could just write another and i guess she doesnt want to get him in trouble, infact i remember her saying they were investigating his office as part of the reform type thing going, so she probably doesnt want him to risk it. Plus when i brought it up another friend was telling me that they really cracked down and atleast here, even if you lose your script its very very hard to get a refill, so if its a barter system they are using, bringing attention to it probably isnt wise.

I dont know, like is said its a friend and i try not to pry too much into others lives. I know her very very well and she isnt addicted to them, i watch her continualy take much less of them then she is supposed to and stand the pain so she can stay clear headed.

Anyway, thnx guys. Basicly i think she is shit out of luck. Im going to try to just go to the doc with no insurance, ill fork out 160 if it makes her feel better.

Thnx again.

Well man, I don't want to sound mean here, but everything she is saying here...spilled them, investigating, etc....I would bet my bottom dollar she ran out too soon for another reason and can't go back because she's been warned before, so now she is in a bind. Maybe I'm wrong...but just because she is a nice person doesn't mean she wouldn't lie about something like this. It's what addicts do, and I've heard people use that EXACT story before (the 'spilling them down the drain, can't go back for another refill, etc.) Because people know I usually have pain meds around for my kidney stones and neck I get some of those stories myself from people who need pills. And no, I don't give them any.

By the way, being that you get these scrips filled, there shouldn't be 'cotton' at the top of the bottle.

Good luck to her though. Hope things work out.

Yea i dont know. I dont think she is abusing them. She is like all natural, doesnt drink or anything, i just cant see her being addicted to pills, she is just so hardcore about that.

But yea, thnx for the info anyway tnf and everyone. I mean basicly i talked to her today and she resigned herself to the fact that she dropped them, she did it and now she is just going to suffer. She called me like 3 times today in 3 hours just to talk to me so she wouldnt focus on the pain heh.

Anyway, thnx again.

peace

Trust me, she's not focused on the pain, she's focused on the withdrawal if she's been taking them for very long.

Seriously, though, if she really had fractures in her back, that were verifiable by X-ray, there would be no reason why she shouldn't be able to go into an ER or clinic, have them look up her records and see the x-ray, and then give her a scrip. Doctor's won't not treat her pain - if she doesn't have a habit of running out of pills early she shouldn't have a problem with one mistake like this. That's why I really have a tough time believing the story she is giving you is the whole thing...because there are options for her, but she isn't taking them.
