I can not fucking beleive that they mentioned Celestia but say no word of Orbiter.

Celestia isn't even a fucking "playable" form of game/simulator.

On the other hand Orbiter is to space sims, what Microsoft Flight Simulator is to flight sims. On the SAME level of graphics.

You can go from Earth's surface to any other planet (using heavy orbital mechanic's physics&math skills) without loading in between anyhere.

Lol, really... the screenies impress me, but when i got to the download section i said to myself 'okay, nevermind'.
There's like twenty seperate files there, which gives me the feeling this is some serious stuff :\

Well as far as Orbiter goes, if you are new.
There are now interactive tutorials.

Meaning you start the sim, you select a scenario and you watch as the on screen text explains it all.
In short sentences, and large white font.
Unlike some of the games out there...

As for files to download; due to the open end design of the Orbiter sim, that was designed to easily accept addons and mods, the files download section is a little extravagant.
And the file naming convention does not help. At all.

This is what you need to play it:

Go to any one of the mirror websites.
Go to this one: http://download.orbit.m6.net/mirror.html

Now download:
Base Package: http://download.orbit.m6.net/orbiter060504_base.zip
A Base Package is your main Orbiter game. With no extras.
Now if you want those pretty high-rez level 10 textures get:

Earth super high rez: http://download.orbit.m6.net/Earth060504_L10.zip
Mars super high rez: http://download.orbit.m6.net/Mars060504_L10.zip
The rest of the planets & moons high rez: http://download.orbit.m6.net/PlanetHires060504.zip
All the files are in .zip so all you do is unzip them all in to a new folder,
and that becomes your game folder.

No installation. It's all addon friendly.

Narbacular Drop is made by Nuclear Monkey Software, the same people that are making portal, who are now apart of valve.

anyone actually get far enough to run Orbiter? I have successfully launched the delta flyer and docked with the ISS with only the PDF manual.
