Exactly, I've had to restart once in the four months I've had my ibook, and that was for 10.3.8 to finish its thing.

I've never had to restart my PowerMac since I bought it...I take it restart means to power down then back up?

Restart is the software telling the motherboard to reset the power input.
It's the same thing as touching the power button, but back in the day when power supplies were garbage, every blue moon someone would power down with the big button and blow their machine. ZAP.
Thus, the soft reset.

78 days max on Windows XP. I think it was a driver install that made me reboot.

Hrmm, guess nobody patches their boxes if they've been up that long without reboot

I had a Win2000 file server running at home without a reboot for nearly 9 months at one time.
Longest for XP was about a month and a half I believe, but the reboot was required for an install.
If you get your install right and keep your machine maintained, newer Windows OS's don't really require reboots the way they used to, unless you have applications with memory leaks or something.

come on Rook, you know all crashes are windows' fault and have absolutely NOTHING to do with shoddy software conflicts.
