I'm not driving anywhere in the snow any more with the Grand Marquis. I use to think I drove fairly well in bad weather. Never use to have problems but that thing spins like a top if the road is just damp. I've replaced the front bumper twice and still need to replace the rear bumper where I took out a sign while sliding backwards.

I thought i would be the hero and go to work today so a mile and a half walk to the most snow free main road so my mate can pick me up.
Got to work and every other fucker that lives in Newport and travels to Bristol had bothered, including my boss!!! I feel like a right mug!
Good snow Dom

Meh... a dusting of snow in those pics.
I'm just giving you shit, because we get so much snow here. That honestly doesn't look like too much, though. Does the UK get much snow?
But it doesn't matter how much snow falls each year -- everyone seems to forget how to drive when it snows more than an inch. Complete gridlock throughout the city on Monday just because of some 4" or so. :icon8:
My TT fucking rocks in the snow, though, so maybe I'm just at an advantage over everyone in their dry-road-only SUVs.

trouble is, in the UK it snows about 3 days a year (in the south at least), so no one's ever really prepared for it

we had the lamest 1/2" covering in york, which is all but gone now. Most dissapointing. At the beginning of the day it was looking promising; we were going to knock off early and sit on pieces of polystyrene and tow them behind our cars drifting around the car park. Sadly it wasn't to be *prays for more tomorrow*

Fuck, still going strong here.
I remember a couple of years ago when I was working in Birmingham when it snowed a bit and the entire city and surrounding area fucking shut down. Sadly the snow began when I was in work and it took me 5 hours to drive home. At least in the traffic jam I was able to get out of my car and take a piss on the side of the road.

What the fuck is it with tossers and complete cities that shut down after a little snow?
Try dealing with 30 cm dumps every second weekend and then you begin laughing at the "6 inch" fluffs you seem to be suffering through.
All in all...I'd say it was a good excuse for a three-day weekend.

I think the council got a lot of shit for that episode, the motorway was at walking pace and the minor roads were even worse, no gritters came out before it started or until the worst was over. It might have been less snow than this actually.

Because when you live in it that is expected. Areas that don't typically get a ton of snow have no way to cope with "large" amounts of it. My cousin lives in north Texas and if it snows/ices over at all they have to close down roads because they simply can't afford to keep an efficient winter weather system for freak storms.

We usually have lots of snow every winter. But that doesn't stop total chaos of erupting during the first couple of big snowfalls every year. It's like people totally forget all about snow every summer and then are taken completely by surprise in late november/early december when the first big storm hits.

exactly, we pay enough in taxes as it is. no-one wants to subsidise a snow plough for the icing that bits of the uk get once in a blue moon.
