complaining about taxes on those with lower income and then buying a pc with your refund
eh, i need a new pc... the one from 1999 is on its last legs. whats wrong with that?
of course, if i wasn't in college I'd be getting < $100 back.
the overwhelming majority of my return comes from educational credits.

What?
I got a lot back this year because i started a multimedia business and spent close to $12,000 getting it going.
People like to use their taxes as a savings account. You should always try to balance the amount of withholdings of your income so that you don't get a lot back and you don't have to pay anything. Since you won't be giving the government a ton of your income every pay check, you can put some directly into a savings account. I bet you'll never even notice you're not taking home that money, and if you don't touch the savings account, you'll slowly see the amount grow. You shouldn't depend on getting a refund at tax time.

Well, last year I ownd a house for the 1st time and got back $4,500.00 which was really nice.... This year I still own the house but am renting it out since I moved 2000 miles away from it.... I had to liquidate some stocks to cover my new rent while I was still paying mortgage, though (I was in a bad place before I rented it out!) and I got a small signing bonus, too, so I think the stocks and bonus may screw me....
I'll know for sure on Wednesday...I will try to take a business loss on the mortage I paid before the house rented out....
