Hello my friend, working hard again...
I know, at least you, form and Bdw3 warned me about the way it worked in here. I guess I am starting to like it.
BTW...Had a look about the chili recipe? Go check it.

I've set aside a couple of bottles of vanilla porter and celebration ale for the wife so she can drink them later. (currently breastfeeding

!)
The porter is approaching 9 months(?) and the celebration is already 4 months. If they are uber-yummy whenever we break in to them, then I'll have to start aging everything a bit longer. Unforunately, that'll mean I need more bottles. But that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

One thing can be said about Bud, when you run out of a good Ale, That shit corn and rice content thats "Supposed" to be Beachwood aged has a diffrent flavor.

I'm down to Sam Adams Light. Damn good for light beer and only $1 more/12 than Miller Lite around here.

I'm such a snob anymore. If people only have Bud, I'll say no thanks, just water.

So Fender are ya fermenting in the bottle?
Posted: Sun Apr 03, 2005 3:47 am
by Fender
No. Most of the fermentation takes place in the first 5 days or so in the primary. The secondary does the rest and is for settling/aging. I add a little sugar before bottling but all that really does is add carbonation.
primary = alcohol
secondary = taste and a little alcohol
bottle = carbonation and taste

Add live yeast in the bottle for the last fermintation.
If you dont have a good capper use corks. (with wire downs) Thay will pop.

This is a higher alcohol beer than I've done before, though. Most have been 6 - 10%. The "bigger" beers do tend to take kindly to a little more aging.
I already tought about doing my own beer but declined after reading the whole process about it.
If you drink an average of 6 beers a day how could you catch up with your small brewery? Would it be feasible?

The last firmintation is for a tripple.
It will produce a bigger head on first pour. Also a larger content on alcohol. But aged if you use the right malts and hops and barleys will be well worth the wait.

A 5 gallon kit costs between $28 and $42 or so, depending on the stlye and if you buy liquid yeast.
Yield is usu about 4.5 gallons.
4.5 g * 128 oz / 12 = 48 beers
28 / 48 = $0.58 per beer
42 / 48 = $0.88 per beer
or so...

To answer your question there are more days in the year than there is Micro brews.
Top the fact with superior brews from Around the world and one could experiance a diffrent brew every day. With new bewries launching everyday and friends,(Yet smaller micro Brews hence the real term) drinking such brews becomes an ageless taste.
Note* Some will suck.

Just good? Blasphemy! Wow, so I just noticed that, because of their static nature, conversations on the interweb make time insignificant--but, damn. An almost unreasonable number of events can happen in between conversations... just as an example, your kid is going to be 5 in a few months. fuckin.Blink.icon.
OK, back to beer talk

My kid turned 5 last Saturday.
Ok, the vanilla porter is damned good. Christmas ale is better than average for the style. It has been a while since I've had the others, however.
