sorry, no.

Well of course we could ask ToxicBug what OS he plans on running. If most machines in his house are 2k then 2k be best for him, if most are XP then XP would be best for him; this is because 2k and XP usually don't play nice together when networked. Also he might perfer one over the other for any number of reasons. Hell I have a 300MHz laptop with 256MB of RAM and XP and it could watch movies, but you would be able to do nothing else while a movie was playing, not to mention that the LCD hinges are coming off and the ATI graphics card won't allow any form of alleceration; otherwise a good laptop considering that it was made in 1998 and still can do many functions
If you can muster the money for a new laptop I would recommend a WinBook. They have one starting at 699, altho to get one worth a damn 799 is needed

well i figured if he was considering a mobile dvd player, the better choice would be a laptop. no hassle with converting videos etc., n if you can get one for the same price, why not.

i got a P3 700 Laptop sitting here with 64megs of ram, its basically useless except for playing video's on, the first ~5 mins are reletivly choppy.. but then she smoothens out.. im sure with more ram she would poot.
Well then, I know for a fact 700 mhz PIII and 256 megs of RAM will play a DVD fine, so thats a top level for what you need. Check ebay for cheap notebooks, but be aware that half the shit on there has fine print reading something is fucked and it doesn't actually work.
Well I guess one could look at eBay Laptop Listings and you can specify RAM, HDD, CPU and brand. Of course the faster the better, also the newer the better; especially in laptops, they get more abuse then a PC and break faster.

Yes, I did forget that, older laptops not only had less effecient batteries, but also will die more quickly. I had two batteries with my 1998 laptop, both have been dead for quite a while
