For me im still using XP on my gaming machine because the performance overhead on vista is too much for me at the moment (Counter Strike source framerate droped to about 60%)

I received a free laptop from work (Dell Latitude D620) and put 2GB of RAM in it and installed vista. I hated how the hard drive was constantly thrashing for a while and even when idle the HDD would do something ever 10seconds or so.

So at the moment im using Ubuntu Linux on my laptop and its running very nice even with Beryl.

I'm still happy with the upgrade; once I turned off UAC, some bullshit services, and get used to the occasional bluescreen caused by Nvidia having no idea how to make a driver for it...

No need to upgrade for it now, probably won't be for a year or two. As discussed in a previous thread though, I had to concede that if you're buying a new PC, there's little point in sticking with XP, may as well get one with Vista.
