What amazes me is the fact that we always seems to think England are better than what they are.

They're utterly shit.

this is entirely the fault of foreign players in the premier league :owned:

or better yet, the fault of the NFL for playing a game in london and tearing up the field.

mourinho said something along the lines of him not wanting to teach a national side just yet. he feels as if its the job for an older coach as its not day to day.

probably the best coach thats available right now is marcelo lippi.

A bit old but its interesting to think about:

"Best prediction for the World Cup 2006

Boston Globe

Pre-tournament guide, Boston Globe: 'ENGLAND: like the New York Mets. Massively, ridiculously overrated by their media, always involved in some sort of comic downfall, insane injuries, woeful management. A car crash waiting to happen, at which stage the local media go berserk.'"

I'm listening to talksport radio phone in. McCrapen was interviewed. After saying he takes full responsibilty, he feels awful for the whole country, the team failed, no time for recriminations, blah, blah, he was then asked if he would resign to which he said " No, I have no plans to resign at all ". He doesn't think he should step down after that fucking shambles. :olo: I think the FA surely have to step in and fire him don't they? The least the FA expected from the head coach was to get england to qualify.

No idea how it works in situations like football managers jobs,
but the FA are now having a board meeting tomorrow morning at 8.30 in light of this game. Presumably to fire him.

There's a second game of russia v israel happening right now in andorra. Apparently, if russia don't score, england can still qualify even at 2-0 down. That would be such a joke if england qualified now purely on what other teams are doing, considering how shit england have been.
I heard if Russia scores, they'll be disqualified for anti-semitism :olo:

israel (the soccer federation) has been jumbled around a bit. they've been in the asian football association and even the oceanic football association before.

"McClaren axed after Euro exit"

By PAT SHEEHAN and SHAUN CUSTIS

STEVE McCLAREN was last night sacked as England manager.

The FA will rubberstamp the decision at an emergency board meeting this morning after England’s Euro dream died following the humiliating defeat by Croatia.

Immediately after the game, McClaren had insisted he would not quit. But we can reveal senior FA board members informed McClaren half an hour later that he was out.
Seat cancelled

The doomed England boss will receive a £2.5million golden handshake despite failing to get England to the 2008 Euro finals.

FA chief executive Brian Barwick, his trusted aid Simon Johnson, FA chairman Geoff Thompson and chairman of the international committee Noel White met at 10.30 last night and decided to call an FA board meeting for 8.30am this morning.

McClaren had been booked on the plane to South Africa tomorrow for Sunday’s World Cup draw in Durban but his seat will be cancelled.

He had always said he wanted to be judged after the 12 Euro qualifiers but last night’s Wembley horror show signalled just how low England had sunk under his leadership.

If only managers' salaries were based on their performance. We're still paying Sven off I think.
