A busted sewer system or underground river running under that area started washing away chunks of the earth around it and eventually there wasn't enough to support the structures at the surface.

I definitely wouldn't be standing where those cars and people are milling around just left of the gaping chasm.

looking at the other pic's of that sinkhole,

its just hard to beleve that such a allmost perfect hole is created by Water.

shitty about the people that died because of it though.
