Well its based on a show called "Gladiators", which aired in the UK first, then the rights were sold in the US and "American Gladiators" was born.

he's right....I remember watching Gladiators intensivley as a teenager...just hoping for a nipple slip...then I realised it wasn't live.

Gladiators was a British television series produced by LWT for ITV from 10 October 1992 to 1 January 2000. It is an adaptation of the United States game show American Gladiators, which has developed a cult following in the UK through its late night TV showings.
