Re: Mars Landing, May 25th
Am I the only person who instantly thought about the Lunar Landing game when the video showed the simulation of the landing?

NP, I figure I don't post much so I should try to make it count.Whiskey 7 wrote:Dr_Watson wrote:when we wipe ourselves out, the next intelligent being in the solar system is going to think that robots ruled mars.

Re: Mars Landing, May 25th
Its not just "the last bit" that is automated, the whole landing has to be because transmissions from mars take ten minutes to reach earth, as it said in the video. Because the landing is seven minutes long, this means the entire landing must be automated.duffman91 wrote:LOL. To have true AI you need to consider the Turing Test and all of its derivatives. Do you think it is AI that causes your check engine light to turn on?
You achieve AI when a human being can not tell if it's interacting with another person or program.
edit: Computer Science in the house, bitch.

Who said the landing of a spacecraft couldn't be perceived to be human driven, when in fact it is automated?duffman91 wrote:LOL. "Why did they program me to feel pain?!?!?!?!"DTS wrote:It's amazing that the last bit of that landing is going to be done all with AI.

This BBC News Trailer of the landing is interesting.

Thanks Unisaw
Yes worth a look, but no sound on my viewing.
Good luck Phoenix Mars Lander
All, please keep your fingers and other extremities crossed for tomorrows landing (my time zone) ...

k is there any video or audio feedback on this mission? I'd like to listen in... today is the day... probably already too late who knows
Re: Mars Landing, May 25th
ps
why didn't they use air bags for the actual landing instead of the (as it seems) ridiculously difficult rocket balanced free fall.?

You could, like, click the link to get yourself to a site/page related to the project, and then like, look around.

That's awesome!
I hope it sends back some mineral data and doesn't open up a hell portal or two.

Re: Mars Landing, May 25th
the way I see it , if they find anything of importance big brother will douche bag it all the way
so the only way we'll get the truth is if they find absolutely nothing.
sounds like a shit deal either way
