ok, tried it and it works pretty well. i used toilet paper to get the last couple instead of getting it on my finger. sitting down wasn't a big deal since you usually piss before you take a sh*t anyway. i suggest you nay-sayers try it.
* if i continue doing this, it will only be in the privacy of my own bathrooms.

yea i never sit down on public toilets, unless i have to take a dump. And in that scenario i wipe down the seats with wet toilet paper, and then lay four strips of toilet paper on the seat so i'm not touching the porcelain.
glad it worked out for you jugg
Btw i just realized i gave a completely inaccurate description of the method - dunno how i managed that. (will edit original post)
You only need one hand to do the pinch grip and slide. So: thumb on dorsal base, and only index finger on perineum. But your fist should be in a "backward grip", so that the palm of your right hand is facing right. Then slide up and deal with the drip in whatever way suits you.
I guess you can use your left hand for the entire thing instead.

Not sure I buy the need for splashback reduction - I think its a matter of angle of trajectory, and velocity. Anyone aiming straight out is gonna spray the surrounding area, but with a lower angle of trajectory...
edit: must be room for some study here, not that I am volunteering.

put some toilet paper on the seat rim of your toilet and around the base and shoot your urine like normal. pretty unlikely that you didn't get a drop somewhere on the toilet paper.S@M wrote:Not sure I buy the need for splashback reduction - I think its a matter of angle of trajectory, and velocity. testing Jules theory re splash back from using a toilet standing up to pee.
Method: cleaned and dryed the rim of the toilet bowel, placed toilet paper around the rim (once dry) - paper was two ply so I seperated the sheets to make sure any splash would be visible by holding the paper up toward a light source post pee.
Pee'd - usual technique, but it is possible that the hawthorne effect influenced my technique (not able to quantify this possibility, its a limitation of the study design).
Results:
Post pee and routine shake I held each strip of single ply paper up toward the light looking for points of translucency (forgot to assess the paper prior to placing around the rim :icon33: ) In total, I identified 4 translucent spots that may be attributed to splash, with an average diameter near 3mm.
Conclusions:
Using my technique does appear to result in some splashback, however, the amount is slight, and probably not significant. Limitations include potential for hawthorne effect, and failure to assess the paper for translucency prior to the experiment. This study should be repeated with a larger study group, and better control of dependent variables.
you win Jules

also to put the study into context:
There is another benefit - the males and females that share the facility will be aligned with respect to their preferred lid position.
This study would only address the spray intensitivity dimension.First of all, learn to urinate while in a seated position. It is more relaxing, less spray intensive, and the spreading of the loins allows for a relatively thorough emptying of the bladder. Spread legs slightly for optimal effect.

haha this thread is funny
You should watch MythBusters on Discovery Channel. They did a "scientific" research into whether or not fecal residu could splash onto your toothbrush after flushing the toilet. The test was performed by mounting a large number of toothbrushes in various locations in the bathroom, simulating the brushing of the teeth twice a day and ordinary use of the toilet.
Good times
