After careful consideration to all of this, I have made the following decision:

I am sticking with toilet paper. If need be I can use some soapy water down there with toilet paper.

(unless you've already experienced something similar through showering).

I'll pass. While I am quite aware that there can be some germ/material transmission to the hands during normal TP wiping (which is why good hand washing is always so important), the idea of barehanding around down there is just not my thing and the idea of getting shit on my hands, even my own, makes me nauseated. And I do hope that anyone who does use your method has really good hand washing skills - and short fingernails. But based on the hand washing capacity I've observed in the general public (something you become more cognizant of after working in a lab where proper hand washing is imperative) I'd rather have people with a healthy wad of TP between their ass and their hand.

So you don't give yourself a good scrub even in the shower? It's not like your whole hand is coming into contact - it's just a finger pad, and it actually incentivises you to thoroughly wash your hands and fingers meticulously.

The finger really is an ideal tool for really doing a good job in there, so long as it's combined with water. And it's not like it's being smudged in a mass of poo - I always let the water run for a few seconds before making contact, and by that time it's really only a thin film of matter that you're dealing with.

How could you comfortably be in a 69er position when you're on top, knowing that your unclean anus is right above your partner's nose?

Or what if your partner is sitting on your face while you're giving her oral, and her unclean anus is rubbing against your chin, which you then smear over her body as you're making out with her later?

There've been a couple girls I've been with who didn't have clean assholes and it ain't fun at all when you get that whiff. Actually I bring this issue up with just about all the girls i've dated, and they all appreciate the my standards of hygiene.

Exactly. I almost always take a shower before sex, and the wife does as well. Especially since she's coming home from the hospital...

I see jules' point, but it seems overly paranoid to me. My ass will be cleaned at least once (sometimes more) each day, and I'm not too worried about the time until then. Taking off my clothes and squatting in the tub just seems like a waste of energy.

That said, I will dab the toilet paper in warm water and maybe some soap if I have a particularly messy movement. But that's not too often.
