lifting weights should be okay as long as you take it easy and don't hold your breath (valsalva maneuver) . Start with light resistance and work your way up as you do more exercise. Also, cardio is more important to you than resistance training at this point, so start with cardio, move to cardio + weights later, and never stop the cardio although you can stop the resistance training. Resistance training hasn't really showed any effect in treating hypertension, and it doesn't have an additive effect with cardio, but only running is for pussies anyway.

btw I lift weights np, part of my 30 to 45 minutes (usually daily now) intensive cardio exercise regime....
You have to build up those chest muscles for when they cut thought 'em later

basically they put me on pravastatin and in november i will do a stress echo test...if that shows blockage they are gonna catherize me...prolly put in some stents or whatnot...am i scared?...nah...fuck u life!...

once the doc fixes it and then you get back in shape i dont think it will matter unless it demotivates you into not working out and eating shitty again.
