My condolences spleeb, even though it might sound stupid and full of a cliche, your mother IS in a better place, a place, that EVERY earthling wonders about, and EVERY earthling wants to know what it is, your mother has the privilidge to know what that big thing is now.
Im not a believer, but I find it hard to believe there isnt anything after death. And I also think you shouldnt feel too bad because you didnt make it intime to see her, I bet she knows you care

As sat said, it's probably atrial fibrillation and the clot on the brain would therefore be a stroke (although that information alone won't tell you how severe the stroke was).

I just got another email from her that he's tired, but doing okay and that the doctors still 'aren't sure what to make of it'.
I get the feeling he's in rough shape and may not make it through, or at least with no substantial damage to the brain.
