2k works fine, drivers are still being produced plentiful, havent seen a single driver or anything else that has only XP support but the video editing software. there are lots of updates for 2k, almost everytime i go to windows update it has new updates.
Yup, and that ends as of Jun 30, 2005. Here is the source for that info.
LeonardoP wrote:from my own experience 2k is much more stable than XP... and for security whats xp got more to offer? built in firewall? geh i hate that
plus i don't really care for security, i can manage it on my own.
I notice you don't really clarify where that experience comes from or how it applies. You may very well be basing your information on shit hardware, being unable to figure out the new OS, etc. And you will have an awfully tough time "managing it on your own" when vulnerabilities pop up after its no longer supported unless you have access to their source and some serious coding skills.

hmm, post some of the reasons then, i dont know what you're talking about. and as i said i don't really care for the security argument
Heres a few reasons if you want to read up a bit on the major improvements in SP2 alone. Here is another reason: a 34% speed improvement. Note that these are sources found in mere seconds of searching. If you want to learn the info is readily available.

i do have a big problem with this, i hate that kind of stuff. ugh the memory hogging for all the useless shit, makes me go crazy up in here.
It isn't "memory hogging" by any stretch. It actually uses memory much more efficiently than 2K does. Here is another page for you to learn more about this and save me some typing. The long and short of it is that technology and hardware requirements advance with time. Its no different with any OS. Redhat v7 requires a fair bit less than the current version. Why would you expect this to be different with XP?

i hate it when people talk anout more "features" when they mean the annoying trinkets brought in xp. whats more streamlined about xp?
*nix and apple aint my thing cause i dont have an apple and i don't care enough to work my ass of to get *nix to work and to learn it.
anyway i don't really care tho, ill just keep hatin xp for the heck of it :icon14:
You've proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that you don't know what you're talking about in this thread and are simply stating tired, inaccurate rhetoric. Please take a few minutes to at least read up on the facts, a few of which have been helpfully posted above.

I noticed you couldn't logically reply to any of the above post and instead took the easy road by making a rather weak flame attempt.
I'm not worked up; quite the opposite actually. I'm simply pointing out the gaping flaws in your logic and the fact you seem to hold ignorance of the facts as a point of pride. As long as you're comfortable with that, great :icon14:

sorry if i was incoherent in my posts btw, during allmost all my posts here i was totally drowsy (especially now).
As I said, if you're unwilling to educate yourself and would prefer to stick to rhetoric and incorrect impressions instead of facts and logic then thats your choice. Don't get upset if people point that out though.

yeah i consider one argument to be more valuable than you do and my logic's flaud. meh
Maybe you guys should take it to R&R. You're ruining my T&T experience. A discussion on the pros/cons of XP vs 2000 is fine, but right now you two are just flinging monkey crap at each other.
If he wants to use older software and not get new bug fixes and not be able to use new compatible software, so be it. It's his choice and if things start going wrong with his setup... well, then it's his problem. That's just my 2 cents.
Other than that, use whatever you feel like but keep this thread civil please.

Its called a debate; flaming would be outright insults. Offering counterpoints to a person's inaccurate claims is a completely different matter. If you don't like it feel free to not open the thread.

how dumb can you get. when did i ask for advice on an os. i repeatedly said i did not want to talk about such a lame topic.
and take advice on what? your opinion thats better? twat
That FACT is, none of the quality video editing suites will run on 2K, which should tell you something, but if you want to be a cock about it, go ahead, I'm sure no one here will help you when MS stops updating your POS OS and you're forced to update.
