If I install this unofficially released version now, what will happen when they officially release it? Will it try to install it again?

Synce your iPhone before you install OS 3.0. It'll sync back your info after the installation.

Mine's finished, looking good so far..... :-D

Fuck the iphone, I just picked up the HTC Diamond/T-Mob MDA Compact 4 today (in box, one in front is my current phone MDA Compact 3) for FREE. In january they were gonna charge me £175 upgrade so I thought I'd wait a bit longer since I'm happy with my current phone and wasn't in any hurry. Today I rang them expecting the same price and they say it's discontinued and they're awaiting the Diamond 2 (MDA Compact 5). They said it would be free to me (presumably because it's discontinued) but they're out of stock, finito. So I fortunately hunted one down at a local T-Mobile shop, they had just the one left in stock. This phone only came out on T Mobile end of last year. I feel very fortunate :smirk:

Both these phones are stylus based pocket pcs not smartphones.

What, with 3G, 4GB built in storage, wifi, touch screen facility exactly like the iphone, a stylus for more precise manipulation if you don't want to use the touch flo or dirty the screen ( I will never go back to a phone with no stylus, maybe iphone has one, dunno), WM6, good looks, on top of my half price for life tariff, half price unlimited web n walk, half price 3G, and the phone itself for the princely sum of zero pounds?

Yeah, complete shit.

You twat.

8.2 will install over 8.1. once 3.0 for the iphone rolls though, be sure that you BACKUP your phone before pushing 3.0 to it.

and LOL@ that piece of shit phone, drummeh.

It's smooth...nice to text/mail in landscape mode...the spotlight-like search is really good. Many small tweaks and improvements.

After some deeper digging I found out that I've installed the final beta of iPhone OS 3.0 that developers received during WWDC. You might want hold back if you don't want to install a final beta version.

Well, considering it's costing me absolutely nothing, I'm pretty happy. T Mob doesn't do the iphone anyway. I don't even use a lot of functions on my current phone, it's mostly just for using the calendar, GPS, internet and phone calls. I looked up comparisons with the iphone, and though the iphone comes out victorious, there's still a lot of good being said about the diamond. Check this out:

OH, so you'd have said it was a great phone if it wasn't in an iphone thread. :dork:

It's ok to be jealous of my free phone. And whoever thinks it's fugly is blind. Oh hi geebs.. :D

Doombrain, I'll be interested to compare the diamond touch screen to my current phone, haven't even taken it out the box yet. I hear what you say about the speed. Mine isn't that fast either, but I kinda got used to it.

No, I wouldn't have said that. But don't you think the people in this thread are going to be bias towards the iPhone and critical towards anything else?

You'll find it a lot quicker than your current phone, and you'll also note how warm the bottom gets when working. the GPS is not bad if you keep it updated. camera's not bad (shits on the iphone). TomTom 7 works very well.

bad points are the touch, nowhere near the iphone because it uses film layer tech. it will lock up often and you'll lose all your settings etc so get a backup tool from xdadevs.

the internet browser is painful after you've used the iphone, i'd stick to using Win6.1 IE and forget opera.

xeros, grow up.
