I was going by when IE6 was changed to IE7 in a Windows automatic update, which was less than a year ago. Maybe it was in beta until then.

Whether windows comes with ie/wmp is pretty much irrelevant.
People who are the least bit savvy will switch to firefox/vlc, or their equivalents, anyway.
Meanwhile, euro-antitrust-cunts are patting themselves on the back for taking such a strong stance.
While what they *should* focus on, is that right now 99% of every new desktop/laptop sold comes pre-installed with windows.
That would of course entail going after hardware retailers instead of just one company, and that's a bit hard, but this is so fucking futile and indeed just user-unfriendly.
