Are you able to restore multiple windows (with multiple tabs inside each window)?

Ah, I see where you're coming from. No, I'm afraid Firefox won't do that, as each window is a seperate instance of the program afaik.
I guess you're stuck with Opera.

Damn... I prefer Firefox overall and am using it now but this feature is key for me.

i smell a format in your near future. FF only crashed on me twice and i've used it (diff v. of course) for well over a year now.

This HD hasn't been formatted in 1yr+. For the longest time explorer.exe would crash when opening windows explorer, turns out that was because of a virus. I fixed the problem recently, before my AV program eventually stopped working.
I only restart my computer (and Firefox) when it's required. I don't believe it's too much to ask, to have a program work properly for an indefinite period of time.

well FF does like to suck memory when it's been sitting open for a couple of hours. i don't recommend doing that.

Each Firefox window is not its own instance, they all run under the same process [check the processes tab in the task manager].

I used Opera8 all day today. Final verdict? back to Firefox.

Thing is, Firefox does run properly. You've got problems with your system deeper than Firefox, and that's what's causing the program to crash.
FF doesn't crash with any kind of regularity on a stable PC. I can't remember the last time it crashed on me.

There's something in about:config that you can do to make FF free up all unneeded memory everytime you minimize it. I forgot what it was, but I have it and it works nicely.

Well on my system, if there is a speed difference between the two it's hardly noticable. FF renders pages pretty much immediately. As far as the security, haven't really had a problem with that yet in any case. The fact that they charge to make it ad free is the one thing that will keep me from using it.

Yeah, I saw that a while back when rep posted it. Doesn't take into consideration modern systems, the about:config tweaks, etc. I'm telling you, they both are basically identical speedwise on mine.

i think i've found it:
Step 1. Type about:config into Firefox's Address Bar and press Enter.
Step 2. Right-click any row, then click New, Integer. Type or paste the following preference name into the dialog box that appears (this is a hidden preference that doesn't exist in the Configuration Console until you create it):
browser.cache.memory.capacity
Step 3. Click OK, then enter the following integer number into the next dialog box, representing 16 MB of RAM for the cache:
16000
Step 4. Click OK to close the dialog box, then close all instances of Firefox and restart it.

well, the memory leak tweak that i posted didn't work. left for the gym and FF was about 3.6k - come back almost 2 hours later and it's at 19k :\

It's not that, it's the fact that he did it in almost the exact same manner that rep does. Even down to the same browser comparison link. It doesn't bother me when someone defends what they like. Just that rep has a superiority complex attached with his.
